Making art, to me, is about play. You cannot be fully devoted to play if you're preoccupied with thoughts about theory n shit.

Yeah I dislike Banksy too, but not because of his persona. I just think his work is awfully obvious and heavy-handed. I liked him when I was in middle school and first saw Exit Through the Gift Shop, but I think I've grown out of it. Most of his work, in my eyes, doesn't benefit from prolonged contemplation–you can look at it and "get" it within a few seconds. And once you "get" it, there's no point in looking at it any more.
