But I'm thinking about those animation/art freelance studios that secure big contracts for bulk work. Someone's the CEO of that. Someone thought the idea of that kind of company up. That person is loaded.

Look at Feng Zhu. Fucker is loaded. Craig Mullins? Honestly don't know, but there's no way he's hurting for cash. The best artists are the best businessmen. It's as simple as that.

I really like that OP image. We should use it every time instead of the trash used before.

How is someone supposed to know the exact level of lighting required for this piece when there's no lighting source present in the picture?

Is it supposed to signify the viewer of the painting opening a door and light shining through? If so, I don't think the lighting is done properly. The right side of Satan's torso or whoever that is should be shining brightly since he is literally looking at the viewer (and possible light source), and not simply his back. His back being lit suggests lighting is coming from the left, but that doesn't explain why he's looking at the viewer who is coming in from the center.

Shit painting.

1-3 hours a day = never git gud
4-5 hours a day = git gud in 7-10 years
6-7 hours a day = git gud in 4-6 years
8-12 hours a day = git gud in 2-3 years
13+ hours a day = diminishing returns

It's not how old you are when you start, it's how much time you take to get at a pro level.

After a year, you should at least be better than 90% of /ic/ and Deviantart. You should start opening up your own Tumblr and start doing small time commissions and general freelance work.

After two years, you should be actually good and approaching pro level, and better than 99% of /ic/, have a decent following on Tumblr/other sites, and start making at least 10k+ year off freelancing.

After 3 years, your training you should be almost done, and all that's left is refinement. You should be firmly at a pro level and able to compete with most pro artists on the market. At this point, the important thing is your business acumen.

Freelance question for you dudes. I'm interested in doing some fantasy stuff, and I've heard that the company behind Legend of the Cryptids pays out like $2,000 per art piece. The art piece in question usually taking 15-25 hours to complete.

Is that the epitome of what you can expect from a single job? Or are there more lucrative situations?

What kind of art jobs can you hold down that are not hard to obtain? I don't care if it's boring or banal, just something creative that I can do until I find a better job.

Is Graphic Design hard to get into? Pays well? Are the skills required hard to obtain?

OP here, I'm back after thinking it through and I don't really care about writing. It's weird, at night I always have thoughts that deviate from what I want to do.

Then I wake up in the morning and just want to draw again, focused on art instead of other stuff.

964 replies. I remember when this was just starting and people were lukewarm on it.

Is this really a big thing on /ic/ now? Is it fun?

I'm struggling to find some overarching goal for my art that doesn't have to do with improving. I mean like a goal that puts me in a really desirable situation.

I know I want to be a digital artist. I know that for sure. I originally wanted to work for an AAA game company, maybe Bethesda, Blizzard, etc. but I slowly realized it's not actually that great and living in Southern California's shithole sounds like a bad time.

But I really want to picture myself doing something pretty cool in order to have long-term motivation. Dave Rapoza has a cool gig where he works on movie advertising by doing art for it. Some people are in gigs where they work on card art and other traditional game media.

Any ideas? Just need anything to spark me right now.

>OP was unfortunate enough to draw the attention of a genuinely mentally ill shitboot

Try to get him banned and if he tries using VPNs you can probably start working on an actual harassment lawsuit

I know I wouldn't let some random piece of shit mess with my career if he was doing it to me.

I have 11 months to impress the art college I want to apply to. I'm not worrying about drawing but traditional painting seems hard.

What's the best media to use for a beginner?

I'm joining an Illustration program here in Canada. What do you think of the student's work?

I'm 24. I don't want to go to art college so I can get a work visa for California studio work.

I don't want to kiss ass and make a million connections. I just want to draw.

Should I just say fuck it and go full freelance? Working for card and game companies sounds pretty comfy.
