Thanks for providing the ref photo and reading my feedback. You can see right away that the pineapple and apple don't reach the full range of values. Even if they're lighter colors, the shadows should still make a form. You are welcome to make your paintings anyway you like as long as in the end the values and color look good. Just don't forsake value for color or use impressionist as a style excuse! Even the impressionists still paid attention to value because that's what makes things look 3D. Their colors are a really cool and appealing optical illusion to make it look more vibrant (like juxtaposing lavender and yellow to look gray so it looks like its shimmering) u can do the black and white trick on their paintings to see that value is preserved.
