Once upon a time I applied to Bethesda, since they were "local",on the East Coast instead of California or Texas. I sent them the URL to my website, and was offered an opportunity:

Design 3 things. A barbarian dressed in rag tag gear,a CyberManticore, and the ruins of a castle in an overgrown jungle. Then storyboard a fight between A and B in C,20 pages or so. I work nights, and what time I had went to the project, but after 2 weeks were stretching into a third,I gave up. I didn't have the chops then,so it was the right decision. I was into the Photoshop legerdermain then, and assembled these characters from chunks of drawings, and its clunkiness is inescapable.

This was the barbarian. Now if I were to submit my work to some game company, my figure would be standing eyes foward arms at sides standardized pose that a 3d modeler would find useful.

It's supposed to be a "Cyber Manticore",and it was meant to have a 16 page storyboard fight with this Barbarian wearing Ragtag equipment. I once applied for a cocept artist job at Bethesda's, and had to crank that out as soon as I could with a 6 night a week job. I went with a low polycount stylized design for the mech, and thought of interesting stuff that the barbarian had, hinting at possible abilities of such found loot through design. I never responded after the third week came by and I only started to design a jungle choked castle. I figured some NEET would have been able to grab hold of the job,and gave up.

This was the Barbarian, and both were designed to be low polygon, since Morrowind was the state of the art game at the time, and the equipment I tried to give personality so one could infer ability from its appearance.
