No but pretty much every head drawing method uses a line to define head size and one for primary direction angle.

My biggest problem with loomis is that the relative position of the features on the circle changes based on the gesture.

I'd say practice referencing the sides of head to memorize the proportions of males vs females. If you memorize the proportions of their heads from the side, it becomes a lot easier to draw them in weird angles.
