Japanese Mecha artists.

Wrapping my head around all of the geometry knowledge needed to draw certain highly detailed mobile suits astounds me.

Let alone when a team of animators has to animate it. CG mecha is becoming more regular so that makes it easier but I'll always respect 2D drawn and animated mecha.

Not sure I'd "want to be" a mecha designer but I love to try and incorporate good looking robots whenever possible.
