I do use reference, but only to understand body parts, or else I'd be unable to improve.

But sure I could make a super epic picture if I used reference highly, but then it's not fun anymore. Where's the thrill of putting something from your mind to paper? I want to be able to shoot lolis from my hand.

And what then, nothing sticks in my head from repetition and I'm stuck spending a day on a painting for the rest of my life, that's boring as fuck.
