Wrong. Feng even said in a recent video what we all already know, that school provides the best environment for improving and networking, but it's perfectly achievable on your own as well. More working artists do not have degrees than do.

Go to maps.google.com right now, search the term "atelier" and see if there's one near you and consider taking a few basic classes. It's about what you can do moreso than where you went to school, and to that end there's no sense in not getting the jump on your formal education; with the right teacher you could get good enough to get a substantial markdown on tuition if you do end up deciding to go to a college.

A few examples I can think of are Silver himself (who never went to college but ended up working at a lot of major publishers), Cearley (who never did tutorials prior to making his "how to make it in the art industry video where he let this statement slip), Shane Glines who got a job working with John K. after precociously asking him where he should go to college and 4chan /ic/'s own Olly Lawson (teh meh)

What school are you in, and should you be there at all? It might not be too late to leave entirely.

If you do go to college, don't just go to "any" art college.
