That's too many words but you're right. Pic related was considered art. No effort. No meaning. Just fruit on a board.
Photography has the same skill curve as AI art generation. At the low end, you just push a button. At the high end you need to know which lens, exposure, lighting, filters, angle, aspect ratio, etc to use.
Same is true with AI. You could just click a button and get an image. But you need to know the right prompt, model, Lora, weights, dimensions, samplers, negatives, to use to get good results.
