I wanted to see if I could do a study in the time it took me to watch this video and it isn't great, but damn dude this guy needs to unlearn whatever taught him to draw like that. I assume he's editing down like an hour of footage. I don't even draw anime.

This guy is a total lost cause. He needs to totally start from scratch if that's what he got after studying for 7 years apparently. Do not take anything away from this video other than how NOT to draw and learn.

>what do you mean, "don't do what he's doing?"

Don't apply loomis to anime
Don't NOT read loomis, then pretend like you did because you were half-listening to a youtube video about it and then apply those incorrect, half remembered lessons to your work
Don't assume another artist is using the same "rules" you learned to guide their drawing, and then use that false assumption to reinforce those rules in your study of their work.
Don't sit there and fiddle with circles and shit off to the side for 20 minutes
Don't needle small areas of the drawing
Don't say to yourself "wow we got so far," when you've drawn a circle and 4 lines
Don't neglect pupil placement and make your characters look like they are staring at nothing
Don't not draw hands if your reference has hands in the composition
Don't "study" something by tracing it, especially if it's another drawing.
Don't be self deprecating
Don't be scared of making art
Don't be a needy desperate faggot looking for someone to handhold you the whole way through the art journey
Don't talk like this guy, ever. In front of anyone or alone... EVER

Finally, don't get off on being """self taught."""" No one is self taught. if you ever once got advice that helped you, you aren't self taught. Your ultimate goal isn't to be totally epicsauce heckin' self taught-erino, its to express yourself as effectively and efficiently as possible. learn what you can, trim the fat, and get gud.

pic related, I did this study in 14 minutes as proof you could be 10x more effective in the same time it took him to edit down an hour+ of struggle. BTW I never draw anime.
