technically speaking? they're amazing and better pictures than anybody on this board can make.
that's not what art is about though, or else the grand masters would not be davinci or rembrandt, but instead the people today drawing hyperrealistic morgan freeman portraits in graphite.
what makes ai pictures worthless is the lack of individuality. these pictures can be made by anyone, with the exact same results. if you tell 1,000 people to draw a potplant, they will all interpret it differently, with all their own quirks. if we compared ourselves to a ML model, we would have more parameters than atoms in the universe while the best models today get a few billion at most.
van gogh is not appreciated for his skills, but the story behind his person and art. even if you believe you "cannot draw", i will still appreciate any drawing you make more than what an image generator can spit out given a string of words, because your art and person is a whole lot more complex than that
