I have a bad impression of art professors in general, at least from my own experience, I only met like one or two that was cool out of like 20 that I've met and it's because they actually enjoyed teaching and wanted to be teachers. The other 18 weren't even able to draw either nor did they have a portfolio I can look at. They were literal who's.

Has anyone looked into this? Is being an art professor worth the bullshit?

I want to be that one art teacher that's supportive and help students enjoy their art and find their voices, instead of being one of those bitter "those who cannot, teach" types who shit paint on canvases and then cobble up some bullshit meaning and then swing their dicks around over their students because they want to feel like a big shot over some snot-nosed 18 year old. These type of professors clearly don't give a fuck about teaching or their students, they only got that art professor job because they can't get a stable art job on their own.

If I do become an art professor, how do I stop from being one of the insufferable faggot ones?

I've made it enjoyable. I don't trace anymore over a sketch, that's boring and takes too much time, i just draw over my previous scribbles until i'm happy with the result.
Lineart? let's just outline some things here and there.
Rendering? more like a few colors with some basic cel shading and we're platinum.
Balancing both my enjoyment, my time and the quality of my work is the best thing i've ever done.

>What does /ic/ consider "making it" gmi?
Get to a place where I get to decently live off my art without putting 14hrs of work a day. Not that I dislike for extended periods of time but it's unhealthy.
>Why do so many artists fail in this aspect?
They do not treat their art like a proper business and do not invest enough resources in marketing themselves. Some people keep repeating a formula that does not work instead of attempting to reiterate in other ways.

>>6670481 this anon is right. the art style should not be an anchor that you carry everywhere, it should server the purpose of the artwork being created.
i never even tried to "find my artstyle" or gave it much thought but after seeing this thread i realized that i actually have one. everyone has an art style because everyone will default to certain ways of drawing certain things. some are more evident than others. a personal art style is just a fancy way of talking about all the baggage that we collect as artists, the good and bad. that's why beg shitters will often claim that their shitty way of drawing is just their style. in a way, they are right. that's why "having an art style" is not necessarily something that you want to "find" early on because it can limit your learning process.

Given 2 students of equal talent and effort, who improves faster?

Student A
>most of their time spent grinding fundies / figure drawing / master copies
>25% of time spent making personal art

Student B
>most of their time making personal art
>25% studies

IF YOU ARE A /BEG/INNER IN ART, please use this thread to post pieces for critique or ask for advice.
We should not have to make new threads or post in the Drawthread with our fundamental exercises.

POST DRAWINGS YOU NEED HELP WITH!

RESIZE YOUR IMAGES TO ~1000 PIXELS:
1. screenshot the image and post that instead
2. change camera capture settings to something smaller
3. send to computer and resize in picresize.com

There's a new (and cleaner) sticky in town! You can see it at:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1uwaXKU7ev6Tw_or__o8ARpUb6r2rCZYJGqwSFV9AD98/edit#bookmark=id.15jx3pyuimvj

Take your time, you can do it.
