It's not like manga is based on 3D.
Or that the majority of manga books and video tutorials uses a similar approach to drawing as loomis does.

The concepts that loomis teaches is the same used for anime. When you get to the academic, idealistic, heroic, fashion proportion segment you realize that loomis is teaching ways to tackle proportions then a set rule.

Even japanese tutorials use some derivative of the same methods loomis teachers.
