Honestly it does require a fair amount of intuition and, dare I say, guessing to pull off good perspective. A way I like to think about making fisheye perspectives is just making an interpolation of a front and angled view. Pretty rough here but you should get the idea. It works for me, might work for you, experiment a lot.
