There is no "best way" because we're all different kinds of learners
lots of people think talent is a thng because they are often only learning in a way and taking resources that aren't suited for their development

your problem is you're not learning in the way that works for you
you're holding on to advice that didn't work for you
and 3 your scope is small in your resources
gather resources (horde even) and try what works for you.

I can't give you a perfect answer just yet. It's a topic i need to research more. Plus this "different kinds of learners" thing isn't exactly the most perfect of sciences.
When i get good I'll try to make an ultimate diagram of different kinds of brains and the best way they can learn ART.
Right now its kind of obvious that not everyone can flourish in a school setting or with books

You can still train those skills with some discipline. Don't expect to sheer force it cause you'll go at a slower pace than others
but there's a lot of other ways to learn.
