This is why Asians are so superior, they aren't scared of learning engineering and science to reach their art goals. Here in Europe I am struggling to find anything similar, the closest thing is Industrial Design, but even that won't teach you everything, and it'll take 2 years longer anyway
I am going to go talk to my local banks tomorrow.. see if there's anyway they'll give me 50k so I can go to FZD

He is right.

I have worked in construction, plumbing, cashier, code monkey, car maintenance and more. For over 2-3 years each job.

Nobody gives you clear work goals in art. There is no streamlined workflow. You cannot begin to understand how important that is.
Most jobs have clear methods and rules to follow. Rules so simple that a monkey can do them. And after completing them they go home with a paycheck and benefits.

There is no one to hold you hand in art. Even if there are rules and fundamentals, those have nothing to do with the market. Sometimes I made more money with shitty stylized cartoons for twitter profiles than with realistic paintings. There is no career path anymore. You must please a large audience to become popular.

You don't have to squeeze your brain and soul when changing a car's oil. Art will also take a toll in your body, probably more damage than physical work.

Even Feng Zhu has said that sometimes he wishes he could just flip burgers instead.

This is legit as fuck. Whoever painted this has great taste and is amazing with color. I soo prefer this over all the patreon color dodge le chromatic abberation garbage. The style reminds me more of classic children's book illustration and even Syd Mead at times (pic related) more than anything. So who the fuck did them?

>Why do you draw, /ic/?
It started out with me opening the sticky 1½ years ago. I had never drawn before that, except very rarely as a kid.

Then i started battling inner demons to make myself draw more. I had weird spurts where I would draw 8 hours every day for weeks with pure practice and study sessions, while having months of almost no drawing.
What disappointed me was how easy it was for me to work 14 hours every day for a month on a game, but I struggled so much with art.

So for about year I had slim-to-no progress, obviously because I rarely ever drew.
Then this summer I finally started drawing passively again. I am starting to understand why I could work on games so much but no art, and now I am applying it to drawing. I've had success with a few 5 hour sessions, but I still need practicing to practice.

My progress is pretty good now though, I'm actually happy with what I draw in my comfort zone, naturally I expand it. I have a lot of artist friends now, too.
Some people, both artists and non-artists seem to enjoy my sketches though, so I feel like I finally got across the first hurdle.

I'm obsessed with art, I don't know why. But I'm feeling more hopeful than I have in a very long time.

>What is your goal?
To get a style where I can draw things quickly, while getting the idea across and it still looks good by style.
It's a hobby more than anything.
