White skin does the same thing, you just don't see the highlights that well because the skin tone is lighter (see the boob here). Skin reflectivity also depends on how dry it is, wet or sweaty skin will have stronger reflections. Anyway, biologically it doesn't matter if light is reflected or absorbed by melanin, melanin is needed to protect the rest of the body from ultraviolet.
