I'm just thinking about it logically and anecdotally. Drawing which is the act of transforming 3D intuition into a 2D representation incorporates 3D skills by definition. Mathematically, you would say 3D-modeling is a subset of drawing. Anecdotally because most experiences I've heard were contrary to yours, so you might be the exception.

3D has a slightly higher floor but a much lower ceiling than drawing, plus its growth curve seems to be linear throughout on top of not requiring much talent. In RPG terms, the /int/-level job advancement for both professions at Lv.50 may be achieved in roughly the same amount of time, /adv/ 3D-modelling at Lv.70 but /adv/ drawing at Lv.99 behind an extremely harsh EXP curve and special epigenetic restrictions that you can't obtain without NG+. I think the choice is obvious if you're a filthy casual!
