I'm trying to nail down the art style and character looks for a sci-fi thing. The goal is big bright palette with a lot of color and design choices reflecting 1980s cartoons. To that end I am choosing to use one line thickness with no fancy flourishing, and all of the colors will be shaded with hard parts save for sky backgrounds which can be blended. Kind of looking to emulate the drawn for TV practical sensibilities when it comes to shading.

The characters themselves pull with costume flourishes more recognizably from the 70s (bellbottoms, a lot of the hair style choices, a lot of the female footwear choices, etc).

I want to do all of this while being referential without it being a complete 4th wall breaking farce.
