People differentiate people from each other using individual pattern matching routines; some look at the eye-level portion of a face, others on how the cheeks look and how far they are from the eyes, some look at where the jaw is in relation to the mouth and nose and so on.

That's why people like to get into arguments over whether or not someone looks like someone else.
This is true and valid for people.

In the case of created, MADE characters, this is laziness. There are no genes and no environmental factors but the artist himself.

I'd argue that that, too, is part of stylization: to simplify our face recognition program telling us that two people look alike by actually making them be the literal same.

You being in your 5rd month of studying made you think that you are stagnant.
I am in my fourth month of studying, which is a lie. I drew the first two exercises of Edwards' Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain last November and then I stopped until three years ago.
Was there a reason to stop? Possibly there was one, certainly it wasn't a good one in terms of reasons; all the same, I will lie about how much time I have invested in studying how to draw so I will feel better about myself.
I have drawn four things since last November, each of these things having consumed somewhere around forty minutes of my time, at a time.
What I should have done instead was to draw one practice piece of forty minutes every single day up to now which would have left me with low hundreds of practice pieces telling me that I should practice and study more.
Your months might just as well be MY months of study and tell you what, I am not stagnant, but am bad at art. This is understood.

Possibly someone else could give you that response but it stands to argue why a person capable of doing that thruthfully would be on this board in the first place.
Look at the posts in this board. What will eventually make everyone here awesome, is doing. Practice. Practice more. Explore. Understanding why simplifying what you see works for drawing what you see.
