https://www.ctrlpaint.com/videos/basic-photoshop-rendering

It's a set of videos (I think 9 or 10). They're not available for free from the source, so youll either need to pay the $10 to get them or scour the internet to find them free.

Heres an example I did for someone the other day. The general principle is to start simple, and build your figure step by step. Loomis is a commonly recommended starting point for this, but there are a slew of different avenues to try. Try a few and see which ones you enjoy/understand best.

I can't fault you for wanting to draw, it's your life afterall. But its not hard to implement fundamentals into your cute drawings. I can see in the image you posted the artist used a basic sphere+line to begin his drawing. If you can just learn the principles behind that, you can begin to drawing heads at any angle super fast. Theres that common expression that a monkey could write shakespear if you gave him a typewriter and an eternity. You too can draw anime without knowing any basic principles, itll just take you as hundred times longer. For reference, I drew my image in just a few minutes. You do you, just understand that you will not improve if you do not put in work, and I can't image you want to continue spending 2 hours drawing 5 minute heads.

The harsh truth is that the only way you will ever truly draw cute anime girls is by learning your fundamentals. It'll take you longer than this summer of course, but you will never surpass the level of a 7th grade weeb otherwise. Refer to the image I drew here: >>3486737 and here >>3486705 both show examples of how you need to understand the forms you are drawing otherwise its just symbol drawing crap. I don't mean to be harsh, but consider what level you want to reach and how much work your willing to put in if this will only ever be a hobby. Art takes a lot of practice to develop skills in. If you dont want to post your own work, maybe post the work of an artist you're inspired by. I might be able to help break down what makes that art good, and what itll take to reach it.

Your figure has no depth to it. The eyes sit on the same flat plane, the nose doesn't protrude from the face, and the mustache isn't connected at the right spots. Look into loomis or any other recommended artist, the idea it to build figures from basic 3-d shapes with volume, hence: construction. Constructing the figure first from basic shapes, then adding the details. Kinda like what this artist here is showing: >>3486252

I never even considered that, I'll look into it.

Thanks, Ill adjust that stuff. A big problem I run into is I always fail to push the values dark enough. I partially blame this on the fact my second monitor is brighter than the one I paint on, so when I bring the images side by side, the painted on is always a touch lighter. But thank you!

Here is my process for the study. I used the same approach that is shown in ctrl-paint's rendering video with the pitcher.

>>3487484
lack of construction shows. Rendering is choppy and the values make no sense. Where is light source? Work on rendering basic shapes and drawing people separately, then bring them together.

Finished with this study after around 7 hours. I wanted to move on, so neck was left unfinished. Open for critique as well as opinion whether my rendering is considered "muddy".
