It will bother you immensely if you rush it. Finish it well, and you will feel secure in moving forward. As with most creative projects, it's a marathon, not a sprint.

Day 2: Mindless

With the comic on hiatus, I find myself putting out more content than during the actual comic run. Hopefully the pages can come faster on this next chapter.

First day of Inktober: The Ring

30 days of lore nuggets. Not ink drawings, I know, but it's strangely enough more difficult to get a pen and paper together than it is the tablet.

It was an answer to a question from a QnA, so I thought I might as well be thorough.

I've been pumping out a lot of supplementary material during my hiatus, largely in the form of visual updates. Here's a few of the recent ones.

I'm also intending on getting a social media presence going, but I've never really used any of them before. I need to nut up and just start musing on the damn things.

The supplementary material is more work than the pages, sometimes. Still, it keeps things fresh.

I'm a year into my own, The Concord Initiative. 18th century historical fantasy. A young, impressionable, haunted king tries to spark a nationalist movement in his declining Empire. He starts a controversial program to do so. The situation degenerates as civil unrest intensifies.

I've finished my first chapter--100 pages. 2 pages a week for a year or so. Now, I'm on a three month hiatus making supplementary material and sorting out logistics of expanding the project!

Right now, I'm also going back and touching up/tweaking past pages that are not up to snuff. I don't have time to redraw them, but I can add color. But most of all, I need to rewrite a ton of dialogue. That stuff never comes out right the first few times.

Amusing to see that a QnA offer to ~150 alleged readers garners only three questions, two by the same person. Tough crowd out there. On the plus side, it's allowed me to go a bit nuts with answering each question. It's tricky trying to gauge reader investment/interest--passive consumption is so easy, and I say that from experience.

That means a lot to me coming from you, man.

You start. You won't make good stuff at first, but I can't think of many comics that were particularly good early on. Like anything, you have to spend quality hours of quality work on it. Fortunately, lots of people are making webcomics, so there's a lot of people to talk to about it and lots of comic making resources out there. Unfortunately, lots of people are making webcomics, so the competition has never been higher for space and attention that has never been more elusive.

Your best bet is to storyboard and script out a basic outline, and then consistently make a page or more of the comic a week. Then, post regularly on a schedule of your choice to a comic portal like Tapas or Webtoon. Consistent updates over the long term (LONG term) is the most reliable method of getting noticed--but even that is nowhere near a guarantee.
