It's unusable for me personally, I get some weird error that crashes the software of Gemini on boot. I bought it on steam because of the potential I believe it has to be a good and legally free program for others so I'm not too bugged about it (I already own photoshop after all). It's a shame the developers weren't able to help me but whatever, it's all good nigga!

Decided I'm going to follow my own advice and relax on the digital a bit seeing as I'm still a scrub and there's no sense gimping myself further. I can draw (and thus learn) several times faster with a pencil than I can with a tablet. I'm loving this set up, too. I picked up an old hacked Nook with Android installed from some dude for $20, stuffed it with Loomis and Friends®, grabbed this old book stand that doesn't work worth dick for actual books and now I'm ready to draw Sinead O'Connors long into the night.

>I have a few questions though, while I was drawing the picture I could note easilynthe differences in spacing and line work between what I was doing and the upside down original, but I found that even after three or four attempts I was unable to get it perfect. Is that normal?

Yes, it's normal, just practice bruh. One of the best and simplest exercises I'd yet seen for this type of deficiency is one introduced early in the book "Keys to Drawing" wherein you take tracing paper and, after having left a slew of random dots on one page, you try and recreate it as accurately as you can on another, leaving marks based on the distance from the edges of the paper or from other dots. You then place your new page over the other and see how well you did. I've kind of tried recreating it in digital for you just as an example; hopefully it makes sense to you.

>And should I draw eveything upside down lol?

Hell naw, nigga! That exercise is just meant to show you how to detach yourself from the subject. To have the part of your brain that "knows" what something is in a social, verbal context (car, cat, house, etc.) and draws like shit as a consequence, to the part that sees it for what it's actually looking at, it's contours, colors, etc.

> it took at least an hour and was literally the best I can do...Thoughts? Am I terrible?

I'd noticed drawing takes far longer when you first start out because you have to be slower and more deliberate to make your lines do what you want them to. I've noticed that personally, even though I'm something of a beginner myself, I can draw much-much faster now that I've drilled dexterity with lines and ellipses enough so I wouldn't fret about how much time it took or if it looks a little wonky. In fact I'd say you did pretty damn good for being a first attempt.

>Will I make it

We're all gonna make it brah

Like anything else it depends on if you stick with it or not. Whatever you choose to do, just make sure to make a decision and once you do you give it 100%

Manual dexterity with your media is among the first things you should work on. Polite sage, please use the "Beginner General" thread, my nigga.

Absolutely no artistic experience you say? Stick with pencils and paper for now bruh, they're cheap as balls and they'll provide a solid foundation for anything you choose to use in the future.

I believe with pencil and paper you will progress faster and be able to save your money until such a time that you're confident your investment in a new media is worth it.

Nigga is you serious? If you get two of the same numbers you get to pick any wizard you want, son! My second roll was 44 too, I still haven't decided which wizard I want to draw this time though.

Accidentally tabbed out of the reference pretty early on but decided to try and soldier through. It wasn't intended to be a value study but I decided to shade it in the end and see how I'd do (which turned out to be "not very good", lel).

>I have bad social anxiety so not sure on where should I go to work on my art

There aren't too many public places I can think of where you'll be able to draw without people aggravating that anxiety of yours unfortunately.

You should probably just stay at school for a couple extra hours a day in an area you think will provide an environment conducive to your practice session.

>Where do you guys like to draw at?

I'm the only person on staff at a small retail store so I'm lucky enough to be able to draw as poorly as I do from my place of employment. I'm more productive at work despite interruption from customers than I am at home for some reason.
