I think I'm pretty much done.

Does this look considerable better?

It looks to me but I can't look at it objectively.

Still working from imagination on my Note 2.

I think I fixed the features and rendered the missing planes quite a bit, I still have to fix the shadows and the eye from the right side.

Thanks, I was just afraid that my stuff was a bit too juvenile.

That's odd, so you rely mostly on furigana for reading and IME for writing them?

Anyway, I can´t guarantee that writing kanji/hanzi will make your drawings better but just like drawing you need to put a certain effort to accurately represent and locate some features (radicals) in order to convey the correct message, also, just like drawing you develop some muscle memory which will be very helpful to memorize recurrent elements.

Anyway despite the fact that there thousands of them, the number of radicals is limited so it's not as daunting as it seems.

I've been teaching myself Japanese for 2.5 years, As far as starting points go, I strongly recommend "Human Japanese". It's a mobile app available both for Android and iOS, it will give you a very strong sense of direction and the content is very easy to digest.

Then download this podcast collection:

http://thepiratebay.sx/torrent/7337240/JapanesePod101_-_complete_snapshot_[May_2012]

Start from the very beginning and read the PDF files that come with each episode. At this point start using a SRS software, like Anki (pic related, it's one of my decks, a very old one) and start building a deck comprised by the phrases and their due translations that come in each PDF.

Watch these series too:

http://thepiratebay.sx/torrent/4279753/Let_s_Learn_Japanese_-_A_Video_Course_

Try to disregard the over use of romaji and just focus on listening..

Hope that helps, Japanese is very complex so be patient. For the very first weeks or so, just try to learn Hiragana and Katakana alphabets as Human Japanese suggest.

Beats me, that's the jpeg as is. Generated by ArtRage, maybe this PNG looks better (it's the default option, however the file size makes me cringe)

For that and other reasons I'm trying to move on from ArtRage, see >>1568979

Thanks Anon, I'm aware I've a long way to go but I try my best at the moment I work on a proper piece.

It's also a bit frustrating because there are some issues I'm aware of but I can't make the medium work on my favor

>>1568974
I think so. As for the latter... well, it's funny because I've never said it's done I just keep posting my progress until I deem it finished. Also I'm busier than the average person (unfortunate mix of too many responsibilities and interests) and I simply can't allocate as much time as I would like to painting/drawing.

Reminds me to the first thing I did when I downloaded Layer Paint for Android.

It looks soft and I didn't use reference :/.
