>Assemble a part list
https://pcpartpicker.com/
>How to assemble a PC
https://www.youtube.com/watch?&v=IhX0fOUYd8Q

Want help?
>State budget & CURRENCY
>Post at least some attempt at a parts list
>List your uses, e.g. Gaming, Video Editing, VM Work
>For monitors, include purpose (e.g., photoediting, gaming) and graphics card pairing (if applicable)

CPUs based on current pricing
>Athlon 200GE - HTPC, web browsing, bare minimum gaming (can be OC'd on most mobos with the right BIOS)
>R3 2200G - Minimum 30-60fps gaming. The stronger 3400G sells for $150. (R3K APUs OCs better than R2K)
>R5 2600 - 60fps+ gaming CPU with great value
>R5 3600 - Great gaming CPU
>R7 3700X - Overkill gaming CPU
>R7 1700X - Budget video editing
>R9 3900X - Professional tasks

RAM
>Do not use a single DIMM. 2 sticks for a typical dual channel CPU
>CPUs benefit from fast RAM; 3200CL16 or Micron E-die ("AES" in P/N) recommended
>AMD B & X chipsets and Intel Z chipsets support XMP
>B-die is EOL, stock is limited

GPUs based on current pricing
1080p
>RX 570/580 8GB - Can be found on sale/used for cheap. Look for 570s which are >1240MHz boost
>(GTX 1660TI @ ~$230/Vega56 @ ~$270) - higher fps / more demanding games
>RX 5700 - higher FPS
1440p
>RX 5700 - standard, 75-100FPS+
>RX 5700XT - higher fps
2160p (4K)
>RTX 2070S OC - budget option. Turing scales better into 4K than Navi does. OR upscale from lower resolution with RIS
>2080Ti - best for 4K but expensive

>Navi AIB models come mid-August. 5700 non-XT blower is alright, due to low power.

General
>Yes, adaptive sync (free/g/sync) is important for gaming
>NVMe isn't better than SATA SSD for gaming
>Don't use Speccy
>Don't trust sites which rank CPUs by arbitrary, obfuscated scores (eg userbenchmark, passmark, cpuboss)

the dual end is the one on the GPU. thats why they have that VGA sign on them. they should also have a little optional nub that turns their 6 pin into 8 pin.

>you won't need a 750W PSU. 650W will be more than enough
The difference in price was miniscule, I got a good deal on the 750. I also like having wattage headroom for possible future upgrades and/or OCing. Is there a downside to running a larger PSU than you need? I don't think PSUs draw more power than needed, so in theory I shouldn't pay a higher electricity bill using a 1000W PSU or a 650W one when both will only draw the power the system needs?

My monitor is shitting itself, and my PC will sometimes freeze for no reason. I can't find the default component, so why not upgrade everything.

I don't play as much but I use the Steam Link to play some shit with my family (Sonic Racing, Slap City, Overcooked).

Should I go for the 2600 140€ or 3600 240€ ?
I don't really need the performance but I'm more interested in the Spectre mitigation, should I care as a consumer ?

Should I change my GPU or it's fine for the kind of thing I do ?

I just got the 3700X for my new build since i need the extra power for workstation use. Keeping my 4770K though. A good time to upgrade CPUs is after a new socket has been released and it's been given a few months to mature. Either you can upgrade your motherboard and CPU and won't experience the problems early adopters have or can upgrade your existing CPU to another one of the same socket after initial shock when prices deflate due to new tech. AMD is a lot better when it comes to CPUs than Intel because they don't change sockets every two years. And yes, CPUs last longer than GPUs. I'm using dual X5975s myself, which are over a decade old. Other guys still use i7 920s, i5 2500Ks, or i7 4700Ks and don't have problems. You're fine.

As for GPUs, wait for the next architecture, then a year after that for the inevitable refresh. AMD's mid-range cards haven't been updated yet.

3200 will be fine, it'll just get underclocked by the BIOS. More modules is actually shittier when it comes to new AMD architecture since you can't reliably overclock all RAM modules to the same speed and you get more benefits from faster RAM than from additional memory space from dual/triple/quad-channelling.

I am building mainly gaming PC with monitor, however am planning to use it for coding (potentially game development so nice CPU would be cool to have). 2000£ is highest I am planning to dedicate for this build.

Currently, mainly two things are bothering me:
- Monitor: I would like to spend up to 400-450£ and not sure what would be the most cost efficiant model at this range; As I am going with NVIDIA (reasoning below), gsync would be better, but freesync support was recently released for cards with pascal or newer architecture. After lurking here for a while NVIDIA looks like that greedy bilionare who is looking for ways to rip you off, thus my scepticism for freesync support.
- GPU: I really want to go with RTX series, mainly because I am big fag and want to dip my dick in ray tracing technology. Additionally, dont feel like slapping water coolers on top of GPU by default.

So far I have picked these parts, would love to hear your comments:

now that I'm thinking about it I'm going to go down to a 500GB for SSD, so the difference in price will be $11
also should I get a 7200 RPM HDD instead of 5400 RPM? does it make a difference for emulating games because that's where my ps1 and n64 games are going to be stored, I can't think of anything else I'd put on there that would require fast loading speeds though

What can I do to make this cheaper without sacrificing performance BESIDES replacing the 2600x with a 2600?
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/NL967W
So for I have
>MX500 rather than 860 EVO
>x3 Pure Wings 2 120mm PWN fans (10.90 on newegg currently, not sure how long they will remain at that price as I'm ordering mid-September)
There are cheaper 2x8GB 3200-16CL RAM sticks but the prices on them have been fluctuating a LOT recently, I'll leave what I have selected as a placeholder and get the cheapest (but still good) sticks at the time of ordering.
I also plan on getting an AIB 5700 so add like $30 to this build.
I feel like I can slash some of the cost on the PSU but I don't wanna risk selecting something shitty.

Why the fuck are you getting case fans? Stick with the Noctuas, they have some of the longest lifespans on the market.

Stick with SeaSonic for your PSU.

You cut corners on the PSU. Go with a higher spec model. Low-tier SeaSonics aren't fantastic in terms of specs until you hit the 650 watt models.

You also cut corners on the case. This is something that is going to last you for multiple builds, at least over a decade if you're not autistic. Put some money down and get an R6 or Enthoo Pro M or something.
