>Post at least some attempt at a parts list
>List your uses, e.g. Gaming, Video Editing, VM Work
>For monitors, include purpose (e.g., photoediting, gaming) and graphics card pairing (if applicable)

CPUs based on current pricing
>Athlon 200GE - HTPC, web browsing, bare minimum gaming (can be OC'd on most mobos with the right BIOS)
>R3 2200G - Minimum 30-60fps gaming. The stronger 3400G sells for $150. (R3K APUs OCs better than R2K)
>R5 2600 - 60fps+ gaming CPU with great value
>R5 3600 - Great gaming CPU
>R7 3700X - Overkill gaming CPU
>R7 1700X - Budget video editing
>R9 3900X - Professional tasks

>Do not use a single DIMM. 2 sticks for a typical dual channel CPU
>CPUs benefit from fast RAM; 3200CL16 or Micron E-die ("AES" in P/N) recommended
>AMD B & X chipsets and Intel Z chipsets support XMP
>B-die is EOL, stock is limited

GPUs based on current pricing
>RX 570/580 8GB - Can be found on sale/used for cheap. Look for 570s which are >1240MHz boost
>(GTX 1660TI @ ~$230/Vega56 @ ~$270) - higher fps / more demanding games
>RX 5700 - higher FPS
>RX 5700 - standard, 75-100FPS+
>RX 5700XT - higher fps
2160p (4K)
>RTX 2070S OC - budget option. Turing scales better into 4K than Navi does. OR upscale from lower resolution with RIS
>2080Ti - best for 4K but expensive

>Navi AIB models come mid-August. 5700 non-XT blower is alright, due to low power.

is it worth to get a 590 or 580 NOW, and wait some years to upgrade cpu/gpu

or upgrade cpu and gpu later this year,(8core and 5700-or better

im wondering if the rx5700 will be bottlenecked by my ryzen 5 first gen -nonX,

and if it is would the 580-90 last me 3 years at 1080p high gaming 75 fps,

im wondering since idk if the ryzen 5 is enough for AAA game streaming as its only a six core so its prety tight

>tfw you hadn't hit the bottom of the thread yet and made a new post even though the new thread was already up

So b350 boards don't have PBO with the new Zen stuff. Does it really mean anything though? They're not even staying at their supposed stock boost speeds most of the time so my 3800x isn't ever going to need to OC itself past 4.5, even with my beef ass cooler. Unless PBO does some other magic I don't know about.

Luckily I'll have all those nice moist gains from having ram that can OC to 3600 16cl since that seems to be where you get most of the performance gain. Definitely won the lottery since my 3200 rated shit does it without any work whatsoever.

You're an idiot.
They'll be running at around 3GHz, not 4ghz+. So they'll be equivolant to a zen2 6 core.

What does "worth" mean?

Get a smaller case.
Get 2x8GB of RAM holy shit.
CPU is overkill for that GPU.

You say that every year only to get BTFO every time, intcel.

I made a small correction.

I should also mention that those 2 fans are replacing the stock fans that came with the Vega card. This isn't a case cooling test, rather a GPU fan test.

>What the fuck is this contrarian shit?
It's my honest tests anon. I originally got the fans because I wanted to test how much of a difference pressure optimized fans make in heatsinks. As from my research, the nocuta fans were supposed to be better with no obstacles but fall off to equal level with grid mesh or dust filters and then being overcome by pressure optimized fans.

My results agreed with it, but more importantly I was surprised that the arctic fans are actually quieter.
As the nocuta fans at higher speeds get this low base hum, that really penetrates case isolation or headphones, compared to higher frequencies where case foam, and headphones block it quite well.

In any case the main downside of the arctic fans was that they consume more current over the nocuta ones, they have no vibration dampening silicone on them(but the vibration wasn't an issue for me at least, perhaps if you stick more of them in case it does become an issue.

Considering they cost more than twice as cheap at the nocuta ones, provide better cooling for a heatsink, and were quieter for me personally.
I do suggest people consider these to test out if they are thinking about getting fans for either heatsinks (GPU CPU, or with very obstructed intakes, such as 90 deg angles, and dust filters)

gpu thermals mostly, the meshify has sort of a weird angled airflow that doesn't cool the gpu all that well compared to some other cases

the guy you responded to should have posted the gpu thermals chart. but gpu temps are not really a big deal.

also I like the 200mm fans on the h500m because they run at a lower rpm and have a much softer sound than 140mm fans, but you have to mod the case to install good 200mm fans because coolermaster used 25mm high bad 200mm fans instead of 30mm high fans for literally no good reason

the best cube cases by far were caselabs cases. it was always my dream to get one and I would have finally had my chance this zen 2 build if they didn't go under.

but they're out of business so; the other main cube case brand is thermaltake. their main cube cases the x5 and x9 are amazing cases but are really from an older generation. they're basically mass produced caselabs cube cases. if they were updated it would be an easy recommendation but nowadays not so much. it's too bad thermaltake decided to hop on the retarded tempered glass "sleek" bandwagon instead of going all in on airflow because they were ahead of the curve with that once upon a time.

you have the split case (this is really 2 cases stacked that you can also get separate)

and also some other ones, lots of good choices at smaller motherboard size

I was trying to figure out what brand motherboard to buy and went to look at some old gigabyte motherboard reviews to see how they held up. there were tons of furious people and low reviews. ok I guess gigabyte sucks. I'll check out asus. oh wait it's the exactly same thing. all of the motherboard brands I checked were nearly the same.

the problem is there are a lot of children buying these things, and then there are a lot of people who fuck shit up on their own and then blame the brand. then there are shipping errors, merchant errors, user error, acts of chance, all kinds of different stuff that can be the real problem. and customer service nowadays is almost always hit and miss across the industry, especially if the real reason your card blew up is if you decided to feed 1000v into it for sick overkill.

most of the brands that are still around and mainstream at similar price points are all quite similar. if you get into cutrate psus or something you can get yourself into trouble, or if you compare a 1 fan budget version gpu to a 3 fan high grade.

anyways though I buy gigabyte, evga, graphics cards and have never had any trouble with either.

theres arrows on the side of fans that show you the way air goes but otherwise turn it on and hold string in front to check

there strong diminishing returns on additional fans and it also increases noise. I personally max out all case fan slots but also buy high quality low noise fans because I find the silence is so much more important to me than the overall thermals.

the layout you posted is by far the most common flow arrangement. you should default to it unless you have a strong reason to do something else.

the main question is if you have a cpu cooler which way do you blow, up or to the back. I personally blow to the back on cases like that.

there are videogames out that are way nerdier than anything in the old days. videogames are better than they have ever been, with so much selection that it's become impossible to keep up with them. you just have to look beyond aaa titles.

some of the recent games I've been playing that I would consider very nerdy:

some more mainstream titles I really enjoyed are subnautica, xcom 2, kingdom come, into the breach, rimworld.

being nostalgic is fine and normal. but I'd rather have today's gaming landscape than the 90s. I remember the 90s too well. there were good games then, but not nearly as much as today. games today are just so good. hardware today is so much better too. you don't need to upgrade every 1-2 years to keep up and the value you get for your money is incredible.

Those 12 and 16 core parts are really nice for people who don't want to have to upgrade for another 10 years again. Like the 3930k of their time.

Don't forget the 9900k uses over 50% more electricity as the 3700X, as well. And for every watt of power, you also spend another 1.1 watts or so in cooling your house if you're in a warm climate, which adds at least $50 a year.

High power consumption can be fine if it's worth it, like with Threadripper. But the 9900k isn't worth it.

lmao your PSU probably doesn't even have those old things.

Yes, that's exactly how you change the RPM on 3pin fans, like the 140mm NF-A14 FLX fans used.
Which gives you around 1050~ RPM.

>Thats still 1500rpm and pretty damn near silent for me.
Around 1000-1100RPM is the max for me, after that the nocuta fans are too loud for me, especially in the base department.

>I'd recommend testing without nla adapters
Then they are too loud for me.
>using industrial fans and 50% rpms.
I have a PWM 14 nocuta as well and it similarly gets too loud after 1000-1100RPM.

I need some advice. I built a new PC and can't really decide on a monitor.

Build is:
Ryzen 3700X with the stock cooler
Gigabyte X570 Aorus elite (seemed to be the best one in the 200 euro range)
MSI 2070S Gaming X Trio (was under my budget and shop had lots in stock)
16GB 3600CL18 G.Skill (should have gotten 3200 for cheaper)
Seasonic 650 prime gold
2TB WD Black HDD (generic storage)
1TB Crucial mx500 SSD (games)
512GB ADATA XPG s8200 m.2 (wanted something good and cheap for windows)
Antec P7 Silent (for cooking this whole mess, it is a hot case, had to get higher rpm case fans to get air flowing, now cpu is mostly 70C and gpu 61C while gaming)

Will use this mostly for gaming and as a home pc.

What i need advice on is a new monitor type.
At the moment i have my old generic 24'' HP 1920x1200 60Hz office monitor.
I can't decide which would be better a 1080p 144hz monitor or a 1440p 60hz/144hz.
Another problem is that the largest monitor i can fit on my desk is 27''.
My ideal budget is about 300 euros.
