I have a Samsung Galaxy S9 and my credit card company (Barclays) lets me set up contactless payments through it.

I'm not a zoomer so I don't understand this stuff, it seems pretty Star Trek. Once it's set up can I literally just hold my phone up to a terminal thing and pay for stuff like I would my credit card? Even if my phone is locked and I just wipped it out of my pocket? I don't have to unlock it or open any apps or anything?

Don't want to look like an old boomer the first time I try this stuff and it doesn't work because I did it wrong.

Pretty much any way you would set a lock on your phone probably works as verification, although samshit might have specific requirements. And the point is both the security of not using cards (which are surprisingly easy to rip off), having an additional level of account protection, and not having to fish around in your wallet. Also sometimes there are rewards for using those kinds of services.

Anyone else think cooling in most PCs is terribly inefficient? Most have 2+ intake fans, 1+ exhaust fans, 1+ fans for the CPU cooler, 1+ fans for the GPU, and 1 fan for the PSU. I would think there's a way to make the hot components touch copper pipes which then get cooled from a central array of fins. Then you would need 2 fans max.

MY GOOGLE ACCOUNT WAS HACKED!!!! Please help me, seriously. Google's pages covering this is such zero urgency bullshit that doesn't help.

I know the password, but when I logged in it said device not recognized. The recovery email was COMPLETE BULLSHIT WITH TWO PERIODS I'VE NEVER SEEN BEFORE!!!!!

It's not one of my main accounts, and I haven't logged into it for years. But now some fucking russian asshole probably who targeted me knows my exact IP and what device I'm using. Anon, sorry. My computer is kind of shit. But both "Someone else is using your account" and "Forgot password" produce the same fucking account recovery page I was bashing my head against for the past few hours.

I enter the email, and the single only other option (if it doesn't deny me everything due to trying so much) is to state the recovery email. But it's bullshit I've never seen before.

I'm just so disappointed in google. Why is this allowed. I wouldn't think every attempt to log in requires handing over your IP to the current user of the account, so it's just my entering the password correctly that gives my IP up. This is horrible. I'm considering nagging to them on twitter about it for special treatment, but I don't have a twitter account. This is just a fundamental failure to treat vulnerable users right.

I'm only guessing I didn't have a recovery email for it. But no, it's not my fault. Google should zero percent have allowed an alien device to access my account then keep the password the same; it's literally just a fucking trap for the original fucking owner.

You can say it's "my fault" because I didn't have the consciousness to protect myself. But holy shit. Can the company get some blame for a shit system with blatant holes that burn the vulnerable. This locking out due to alien device should have literally happened to the attacker, not me.

Your link is the same I was staring at for hours. The only thing it offers is entering the email, then if it doesn't deny me everything, it asks for a name. I get the name wrong somehow. Or it asks for phone number. Phone number is not under any account.

Again, I'm just super fucking not happy a nigger can seize an account, keep the password the fucking same, and it's just a fucking trap for the original owner? If my ip wasn't given up I wouldn't think about this ever again.

I live in a corn field and my internet comes in on a phone line. Recently i bought a new router off of amazon so i can play around with it, the shit modem they gave me makes doing anything complicated. So currently my internet comes into the modem, which passes it to my router then off to all my local devices.

Can i just throw a RJ-45 connector on the end of the phone line and plug it directly into the router bypassing the modem all together? I would much like just having to use the router instead of both.

No. Routers and modems fulfill completely different roles. There are hybrid devices that act as both modems and routers, but you can't just connect a normal router in place where a normal modem was before and expect anything to work, since they are two completely different things.

Are you saying here that the recovery email has somehow been changed to a statement reading "garbage two fucking periods in it". Or are you saying that the recovery email is a series of random letters and numbers including two full stops\period symbols, which are uncommon on email addresses? Isn't it possible that when you created this email account, because you used it for some sort of dodgy 4chan business - that you just wrote something random rather than put a real email address into it?

> What is even your end game

Now THIS sounds paranoid\delusional.

Finally, what you're saying about "harvesting your IP" is silly. What can someone do with your IP address?? Not that much, really. What do you SUSPECT they would want your IP address for?

Either retroactively, like let's say I commit at 7:00pm May 27 and later want to make it look like 5:00pm May 26, OR just make it a past time during the commit, like it's 7:00pm May 27 currently, and I'm doing a commit but want to timestamp it as 5:00pm May 25.

I recently upgraded my PC with all parts shown(except 9900k which I just bought lmao)

Anyway it turns on as long as the CPU cable is not in the psu, or in psu and not on the mobo.

Anyway, when it is in, it goes into a loop of off and in, with 3 to 4 seconds Inbetween each reset.

I've cleared CMOS, breadboard and still am confused.

There should easily be enough power, and psu and mobo are new. Only thing that is old is my 1080 and 7700k that's in it now.

I'm from /p/, the main thing I use it for is Adobe PS/LR. Trying to install Adobe stuff it says it is missing api-ms-crt-runtime-l1-1-0.dll. Ok, google this and it is part of Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015 .

Ok, so try to install that from MS- it fails. both 32bit and 64bit. When I try to run MS update in the OS it says up to date, but Belarc advisor says I am missing 72 security updates. Also, there is some large comprehensive update I'm missing so I download the standalone installer- it fails.

I've been fiddling a bit with audacity and really enjoying the work that you do with this kind of program but I can't really seem to find a good book or tutorial to gain more insight into what makes audio sound good and what you can do with a recording to make something sound better.
Currently this is my workflow for my commentary when playing games on youtube.
1. Noise removal
1.1 make profile from 5 second of silence
1.2 select microphone track and open noise removal again and press ok

2. Compressor (-15 to -18)

3. Equalizer (Curve to Bass Boost)

4. Repeat Step 3 with Treble Boost

5. Limiter (-3.0)

6. Boost microphone +3

7. Reduce game audio -10 (or more if it's really loud)

8. Normalize

9. Export as FLAC

Hey /g/, I took your advice and installed Final IK. This tool allowed me to import a four-legged model and add leg points to it, and bend them in Unity's Play mode.

The thing is, after you use Final IK to set up the points on a leg, how do you actually **script the leg movement?**

I can't find tutorials on this specifically. There's https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VhXuMoGA1D0 [Embed] which shows setting up a model's leg points with Final IK, which is what I successfully followed.

But as for actually scripting the leg movement after setting up the leg points, I can't find any tutorials. Is there any documentation I can refer to that would actually apply to this specific situation?

Please.

It depends what games you want to play, an i5 might be a bit on the lower end for big AAA releases, but you could always overclock a little bit if you manage to have some cpu bottlenecks.
It should serve you well for the next couple of years and 5 years is a very long time, maybe you'll get your hands on some money in that time and be able to upgrade your rig a little bit.

In that context an image file is a compressed file containing everything on the drive. Macrium Reflect will take everything on the drive, wrap it tightly, and store it in one file so you can use that to restore the drive later.

Perhaps a lousy analogy but let's compare it to a car. Even if the speed is limited to 100km/h on cruise control the car itself is capable to go faster. Or a underclocked CPU, you artificially limit the performance even though the hardware itself is capable of much more.

>So basically the video is technically also down scaled to 1440p if the desktop is?
It's like if you were playing a 4k video on a 1080p monitor. There's nothing "extra" there. You only have 1080x1920 pixels. If your system's overall "desktop" resolution is set to 1080p, then that's literally all your GPU will send to the monitor. It doesn't matter what you used as a source. I mean occasionally you'll get a dope video player on your PC that will attempt to use the 4k videos extra information to come up with an especially rad set of 1080p pixels to send out, but that's not better than having a good 1080 source to begin with, like an uncompressed blu ray. I think you're imagining "scaling" to be something more than it is.

IIRC macs are better than windows at scaling, since apple went on that whole Retina pitch, but who knows. If you can mess with your DPI, or adjust size in individual programs like browser/doc reader, that can potentially save you from having to change your output rez.

Doing something other than 1080p or 4k desktop output is especially bad on a 4k monitor, as the pixels don't line up, so you get an added layer of blurriness on literally everything.

I don't know about sed, but in vim I think that command would look like this:

s/\(.*\)\'\(.*\)/\1\2/g

Have you tried escaping the parentheses?

If rename isn't using extended regex, you need to backslash as escaping is backwards from modern regex, try
rename 's/\(.*\)\'\(.*\)/$1$2/g' *

>He basically just crops screenshots and touches up digital photos now and then.
for screenshots i would suggest sharex, which easily lets your crop screenshots and has a basic editor as well as screen recording functionality.
for simple photo edits, i'd go with adobe lightroom and for bigger stuff photoshop or maybe paint.net, if gimp is no option.

You could probably get something to work pretty easily by examining the HTML file for the page and following the links to is2.4chan.org to get the full image, and putting it in a script. I did something like that with Instagram once, and I imagine it would be 100x easier with 4chan.

as far as I understand, you can't have a ' in a '-delimited string, even if you escape it. so we just make two '-delimited strings and put an escaped ' in between.

Recently I did a Facebook account because I want to send some messages to old friends and that is the only way that I have to do it. After making the account and log in, some minutes after the account was blocked and Facebook says that I have to introduce my phone number to have the account back.

Is this normal now when you create a new account? Facebook asking for your phone number to be able to use the account?

I'm a mechanic and my garage is about 100 feet (30.5 meters) from my garage (solid concrete construction.

I have fast FIOS internet at home and ran an ethernet cable from my home to the garage but the internet is still spotty in my garage PC.

Is there some equipment or better cable I can run through to make my garage as fast as home internet?

Thanks guys.

what's the deal with stupid cheap prices on ebay? it's gotta be broken, a scam or stolen goods or something right?

So I replaced my old headset with a cheap Logitech G432. Plugging it in via the microphone and speakers booth works but it also has an USB adapter that offers 7.1 sounds. However, I get weird hick ups and cracking sounds when I use the USB one. Sounds like a hardware issue with the integrated soundcard, right ? Does a USB 3 port fix it or should I just give up ?

>> No.71146994

>>71146905
Max Ethernet cable length is 100m so you should be more than fine. Is the cable good? Should be at least cat5e, but there's almost no reason nowadays not to go for cat6 or even cat7 (you'll save like $5 on cabling, wow). There are also special "outdoors" shielded cables, this is particularly important for cat5 (and I think almost irrelevant for cat7).

I have a summer house type thing also 30m away and I have great internet, with an outdoors cat5e cable stretched to it.

If it's an auction, the price means NOTHING until close to ending. You can have an item go from $15 at 3 minutes before end to selling for $120.
If it's used, it could be best up as fuck (though that still sounds too cheap).
Otherwise, yes it can be a scam. Ebay has good buyer protection so generally it's not too dangerous, but when it's too good to be even remotely true to a ridiculous degree, even though you will get your money it's basically gonna be a waste of time and hassle so there's no reason to do it.

Depends how much "too much" is. I've taken deep whiffs before - think a shitty SMD joint that won't behave, literally drowned in flux in desperation, followed by me bending down closely to look carefully at what I'm doing and then sticking the 350*C iron right into the fucking sea of flux - and had no adverse reactions (other than what you'd expect from having an acrid cloud blast into your face, but three seconds of wheezing later I was breathing normally and didn't have any further issues).

So yes sounds like you're allergic or something. I didn't even know that was a thing, but I guess why couldn't it be. Get a mask or something.
