Micro and macro dynamics are absolutely exceptional. Switching from anything else to Verite is like switching to 4K HDR - there is just sharper color and depth to every note. This is because the texture of continuously changing volumes is reproduced so incredibly accurately and clearly. Super tangible and ultra realistic texture. I can see why the name "Verite" was chosen.

One of there really defining elements to the sound for me is the attack. Verite reproduces everything with a very tight, clear edge to it. Transients are A++++. I mean, when you talk about transient snap, this is about as good as it gets - has that electrostatic-like immediacy to it. Every sound that comes out of it, you're like, "I know exactly what the #$%& that sound is and where the $&?# it's coming from." It's just super assertive in it's sound. Love this!

Bass on Verite is beyond first class. Impact is super stiff. Great sense of suddenness to it. Even more power than the blackwood Auteur, which is exceptional in the bass dept. Bass clarity is planar-like - you just get that extra level of detail down low that you usually can't get with dynamics - super clear and detailed. Never congested. Really great differentiation between different notes/sounds/instruments down there.

The Sabaj is a DAC/AMP. Honestly, I can't tell the difference with the DAC unless going to higher volumes. I live by a main road and I'm in the room closest to the street so during the day I would notice. As an amp is pretty good, not as loud as I feel like it can get but good enough for me.
The Sabaj works great with laptops. I use a T440 with (arch) linux and it is just plug and play.

Headphone drivers move to produce sound. This inconveniently means they also produce sound the opposite direction of your head.
If the headphone's closed, it turns into vibration of the enclosure and also opposes the movement of the drive. Thus distortion is much higher than on open headphones.
Soundstage is affected negatively by cross-talk, which is much higher on closed headphones due to the vibration traveling through the headband.

>Wouldn't neutral be better for voice clarity?
Due to masking, the more the neutral the clearer everything is. Also better (and healthier) to keep volume low.
>What kind of idol or even anime music have bass?
There's lotsa variety in idol music, too.
Random: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=phFWpyNL0FM
Some idol music is also pretty complex, overloaded with layers of music, making them very good for testing imaging.
Just do your due research before spending money. There's plenty of reviews of HD600, HD650 and both together in text and video form, and quite a few of HD58x out there already. Going through some before spending money can't hurt.

Schiit Yggdrasil owners: if you haven't upgraded to Analog B yet I highly recommend it. It's a more organic sound than before. Instrument timbres improved a lot and on the whole it just brought the overall realism to new level.

I got mine back a few weeks ago, and it feels like it is fully settled in now. I also got the Gen 5 USB card (mine had the Gen 3), and since that is my primary input (I know, I know, but the library on the PC is too convenient) it definitely is a contributor to the new sound too. Honestly it may have been a bigger influence than the analog card upgrade. There were obvious issues with the old USB card. I don't know if it was jitter or something else, but it sounded harsh and had a lot of glare in the treble range compared to playing a CD through coax.

Now, though........... oh man. I've been fighting a war against harshness and glare in audio for most of my life and now I'm trying to wrap my head around how it feels to have finally won it. I hate to use the term "smooth" because I think the goal should be "real." If the music sounds real then neither harsh nor smooth should be applicable words. Real is real.

After upgrading the Yggdrasil the music sounds real to me now. Finally.

I know there are a couple other Yggy owners around here so I thought I would offer some thoughts on the value of the upgrade.

so i want to get myself into the audiophile meme. I was thinking of getting a fiio q1 for my android and later purchasing a Beyerdynamic dt880 250 ohm refurbished after researching and hearing that its the most neutral of the d7-9 series and is in my budget. should i be ok?

Sennheiser HD 569 or Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro?

I'm looking to upgrade from my RHA MA750. They have several problems: static electricity build up or they're shorted somehow, not as comfortable anymore and the cable started to show tears. I appreciate RHA's customer service but the replacement IEMs they sent me (currently using them) are worse than the ones I they're supposed to replace (see pic related).

I'm willing to spend around €100 for an over ear headphone. I've checked the list of <$200 headphones provided in the wiki and I found two favourites: Sennheiser HD 569 and Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro. Both are available for roughly the same price of €120. Idk which one to choose.

Currently I'm in favour of the 569 because of the replaceable cable. Of all the IEMs I've had it was always the cable that failed first. The 770 on the other side seem a bit more sturdy.

Idk what signature I need. I listen all sorts of music so I guess neutral is best? To be used mainly with my PC and maybe my phone as well.

Hello autistes
I have had Shure SE215 for 5 years, I just managed to break them yesterday. I probably had around 15,000 hours of use on them, and I am really upset that they finally died.
Should I buy another pair? I have not followed the audio scene in quite a while, so I don't know of anything manufactured Kore recently than a few years ago.
Im a bit short on cash, but would it be worth it to upgrade to something higher in the lineup, like, say, the 425's?
Source would be primarily my phone but also a FIIO e07k occasionally.

I watched that guys BGVP DMG review, and I'm starting to doubt his efficacy. I'm listening to them right now and they are WAY too treble hot.

Maybe I need to burn them in or something, but I'll take everything he says with a grain a salt from now on.

Anons with Denon AH-Dx000 / Fostex headphones of the same lineage, what cases are you using?
I've been thinking of getting a case for my Denons and could use some recommendations.

HifiMan's brand case would seem to fit the Denon/Fostex according to many a forum thread, and looking around on Ebay, similar picrelated style cases are sold as being compatible. Anyone have experience with these kind of cases?
A Pelican style hard case with the pre-scored foam inserts and all that jazz could also fit the bill, I guess...

I'd like something neutral, but as long as it's not all bass it doesn't have to be.

Also I prefer straight down instead of over the ear if that's doable.

Just got my BossHifi B8s that I bought on a whim a few weeks back. They sound okay, fairly neutral. They are a lot more comfortable than I expected them to be, even on my giant head, and the build quality is fantastic. No rough edges like you might expect from Chinkshit, they're completely smooth. The wood appears to be real wood. The connecting hardware is either metal or metallized plastic. It's folded over some rubber on the inside, presumably to reduce weight. Overall pretty good for the price, especially if you like neutral cans.

I wanted closed back headphones because i wanted to pair it with a modmic. My current gaming headset has a mic and people can hear in calls what I'm listening to so.

I haven't seen the HD 598 CS gone for sale in years. its actually more expensive now for some reason.

>The wood appears to be real wood
It's real wood, mine fell when I was mowing the lawn and now they have a little scratch. Built like a fucking tank.
>They are a lot more comfortable than I expected them to be, even on my giant head.
The fucking headband is extremely big when fully stretched. What pads have you tried on them? I tried HM5 velours but they lose the little bass they have. I also tried HM5 angled pleathers, it makes them uncomfortable on the headband because it touches less of your head, creating a pressure point, they sounded slightly warmer and with a wider soundstage but I couldn't stand the discomfort. I'm waiting on some sheepskins that will hopefully make them even comfier.

They don't have the same applications, one is closed and for commuting, the other leaks a ton of sound and needs an amp (but they will sound leagues better)
