>it is apparent that thermal protection systems must be provided... which can survive heating rates of less than 10 Btu/ft^2 sec to over 100 Btu/ft^2 sec.
10 Btu = 10 550 Joules
100 Btu = 105 550 Joules
1 square feet = 92 903 mm^2

I doubt it. The motherboard manufacturers are prepping to support a 250W TDP. What you're describing would draw way more than that. The 1950x drew 180W. If all the zen+ efficiency gains go into improving the single threaded performance then we'll only see 22-24 cores.

I'm not saying that it is impossible for them to deliver 32 core CPU that is capable of hitting 4.5 GHz on a single core. I'm saying that if they choose to go that route then the base clock would need to be like 2 GHz to avoid raping coolers and motherboards.

It doesn't pull 1.5v at stock. Without adjusting the scalar it won't pull more than 1.425v for single core. Or rather, it won't actually receive that much. The cpu adjusts things automatically based on the effective voltage, adjusting for things like vdroop. If you up the LLC you'll notice those readings go down.

Vega20 is still only for ML/HPC.
TitanV already beats a theoretical 7nm Vega20.

Faster Radeon Instinct MI25 is the only interesting thing and it's for offline 3d rendering.

>Except Ryzen has better IPC than Coffee Lake.
In terms of maximum theoretical throughput, yes, but if you can't reach that in practice then it's worthless. Ryzen does not match Coffee Lake in IPC in actual practical workloads. Not far from it, sure, and we don't know what Zen 2 brings, but it's not there now.
>Coffee Lake only has 1x 256bit.
Retard. Skylake and later have 2 AVX2 units, one each on ports 0 and 1, both of which are FMA-capable. Zen has four 128-bit units, but they are disparate in capabilities, only pipes 0 and 1 can do FMAs and even when they do, they need resources from pipes 2 and 3, limiting their throughput on adds. In total, counting FMAs as two FLOPs, Skylake can do 32 FLOPs per cycle, and Zen can do 16. Not counting FMAs, they are technically equal, but Zen can only match Skylake with an even distribution of multiplies and adds. Counting SSE-only workloads, Zen is well ahead.
>Only Xeon's get the second pipeline
That's for AVX-512. Even my Sandy Bridge has two AVX FP units, and yes, I've tested it.

That's what the timeline suggests. 4-5 years to bring a brand new processor to market, maybe longer since it's a made-from-scratch uarch and it's AMD. He left right at the end of 2017 and AMD's slides put next-gen at 2020, so it was in the works since 2015 or 2016, possibly even earlier.
