He's making it as close as possible to the original that's why it's taking so long, he's working on the keycaps and springs right now after that he should be done. He's already brought them to meetups and they got good reviews.

>> No.64819029

It might be the stab on that particular photo.
Want me to take a picture of my keyboard, showcasing crooked keycaps? They right themselves out when pressed down, but are crooked when up.

>> No.64819031

yeah that is cool and all, but has someone gotten one that he has literally made and sold yet? He is pretty much advertising at this point and probably bought the best quality one to the meetups.

Also when even is the eta to get one when you buy one?

They are ok. I prefer navy box swtiches and buckling springs desu.

>> No.64819150

Probably uses outemus. They are alright for a beginner's board, but not over 30 bucks. Also those keycaps suck.

>> No.64819186

I'm new to all of the different switches, is there an easy way to test all of these out? Reviews aren't really doing much.

>> No.64819198

Btw, I meant to post a review of these. These feel like lighter skcm whites with a heavy amount of lube on them. They have a high initial resistance and then go down easily once you past a certain point. The difference is that alps actuate on the top while this one actuates somewhere in the middle. The clicks on these are extremely... deep or bassy compared to the click of a cherry blue. I prefer the ping of the ibm buckling springs, but these don't sound anything like that. They feel great for typing, but terrible for gaming. The actuation point is around 3.8 mm which is twice that of a regular cherry mx blue which is around 1.8 mm.

Overall, these are great. They are basically my favorite modern switch on the market. They differently have the best feel and I prefer them to matias quiets.

>> No.64819202

They're Outemu, yeah.

>Also those keycaps suck.
I like the round keys but I don't like the font. They're replaceable though so I suppose I might do that sometime down the road

Also it should be easy to just pull away the switches for replacement on this one, I hope it lasts me a long time.

>> No.64819209

you can get samplers online, otherwise no. You need to bite the bullet, drink the koolaid and buy those switches. Otherwise you can find a reviewer who has the same tastes as you.

>> No.64819227

if capacitive buckling springs are so good why don't they have good layouts or DIY boards

>> No.64819244

You realize good keycaps will cost you around 30 usd. At that point it is just good to find a keyboard with some keycaps you like as well. Outemus are literally in every cheap chink keyboard on the market.
Also round buttons are terrible to type on.
> I hope it lasts me a long time.
Maybe, QC are terrible on these cheap dime of dozen outemu keyboards.

Get the Turtle Beach Impact 500 which is like 40 bucks on amazon. They actually use cherry blues and build quality is somewhat decent.

Sadly my options were limited as I'm in Europe. I'm already switching from an Italian layout to an US one (though I don't mind it since I type almost exclusively in English). This was pretty much the only keyboard I could get in that price range but the reviews were enthusiastic for the most part

Now that I've been using a split keyboard for months, I cannot imagine going back to a regular keyboard. The comfort that having your arms and shoulders squared up and relaxed as you type is simply euphoric. Unless you've got the shoulder width of a small female child, you owe it to yourselves to try a split mechanical as soon as possible.

>> No.64838815

the tip is fine on that model, the thing about a ts100 is that you no longer need a specific unit to power the iron, saving you a lot of money in that regards, until now soldering stations had a transformer inside them just image that thing inside a console it would be a big no no, if you are going to solder one time then just buy one that goes directly into wall but with a small tip and you fine.

Use solder with a flux core, without it you would need external flux and that is a bit messy.

I mean that you should get a spare PCB to practice on, of a style used by do-it-yourselfers to wire up their own boards. Should just be a grid of copper pads that you can practice on. You should be able to find what I'm talking about if you take some time with an internet search.

Never mind, I went and looked it up, I remember how frustrating it is to figure this shit out by yourself.
Practice on some of these. Solder junk to them; spare wires and salvage shit. Whatever you can do to brush up skill.

Why are reds so shitty?

again i don't own a ts100 i have a normal station, buy what ever one you like or its cheap enough for you, what i was saying is that the ts100 requires just a laptop transformer or what ever provides enough energy to heat it up, there's people that use RC packs to power it lol.

>What kind of console are you talking about
are you that young?

if i had tools and a bit of experience i would build that keyboard for you

Many thanks my friend
I'm assuming that since a keyboard will mostly (only) have through-hole soldering, I should just stick a length of copper wire through a hole in that perfboard and solder it on, rinse and repeat? Does that sound about right?

I may seem extremely retarded right now but I have literally never done anything with electronics. I'd enjoy leaning but I don't even know where to properly start, and unlike almost everything else I've taught myself (like programming, linux administration, etc.) this needs actual physical equipment and a corresponding initial investment.

Biggest fucking meme switches in a while. They're actually horrible. Way too hard to press and loud as fuck. You can't even concentrate on what you're typing from the noise they make. Can't believe anyone with half a brain would want that shit.

I think most of their hype comes from idiots who watch YT videos by various shills who hype this shit up.

the keycaps look like cheap chink shit, the RGB lighting makes it seem that you're 12 years old, and there are a lot of imperfections in the wrap, but at least it's not an over priced rubber dome like an HHKB

New thread!
Take your shit posts here plz

>> No.64839419

You're just mad because HHKB is the best tactile typing experience ever conceived by man.
The keycaps are high quality PBT with even higher quality dyesubbing of gorgeous legends and the RGB is done as a tasteful under glow.
The imperfect wrap gives it a nice final touch.
And basically, you're fucking retarded because every single thing you said is wrong.

>> No.64839448

good thing the HHKB doesn't have RGBT lighting since it's meant for immature redditors and 13 year olds.

I was looking on mechmarket and I see people charging $750 for some standard looking keyboards with lubed switches. What makes them so expensive?

Couldn't I buy all the switches, case, pcb, plate and lube the switches myself and build the same exact thing for a fraction of the cost?
