Remember when it was found out that APFS encrypted volumes store the passkey in plaintext? They're both shit, one just openly touts that it's spying on you.

remember when they released an update that fixed it within a couple days?

The point is that something that significant still managed to slip through the cracks; All of Apple's skilled people work on I OS instead of OS X and it shows. OS X has become a literal train wreck over the past couple of years.

Wooow, human being did a mistake!

How can humanity ever recover from this setback?

Besides Linux had security problems that took years to get fixed and same with windows.

1 literal distro has more vulns than latest windows and os x combined
it's literally retarded how people keep pretending linux is magically the most secure
in reality, it just hasn't been actually put under heavy stress as a desktop platform because no one gives a fuck about using a server os as one

>> No.62937823

GNU/Linux security is partially based on what you install/use. If you use bad software or don't know what you're doing, sure it has vulnerabilities.

You can't bundle all distros together as one operating system. They're based around similar software but there is so much variance and freedom of choice that it wouldn't be a good comparison.

Assuming there's a fix, Apple will have this WPA2 thing patched ASAP, which is one nice thing about using fully supported hardware and an OS built for it specifically.

In fairness it wasn't an APFS problem, but the utility creating the volume (it added the passport to the "hint" field by mistake).

>> No.62940415

>>62939973
apple already patched it in the dev build
about to release a public build for the public soon
