I can get a new MacBookAir 2015 for 800€. I'd use it for work doing some office drone task (I can use MS office rit3?), shitposting, and some hobby webdev. What else do I need to consider as wincuck/loonixfag who never owned a Mac.

btw are there casing that I can put on top so that you don't see the applel logo?

It lags a bit on me when I have a lot of programs open, which happens easily since mac by default leaves a lot of the stuff you close running in the background to load faster if you open it again. You have to rememeber to really close stuff by right clicking it in the task bar. But anyway it lags a bit if I have 20+ firefox tabs going along with word excel and a music player. Also running a VM on 2GB of ram makes it start slowing pretty quick. It's a weird kind of slow though, it just stops for a while and gives you that rainbow loading cursor then everything is fine for a while, instead of constant slowness like when windows lags.

Get the macbook air. It's a great notebook. I actually bought one for 800 euros too, about a month or two ago.

Macs have their own quirks but it's still ten times better than windows 10 or windows altogether. MS Office is available if you want it but Apple has it's own free iWork suite that'll get most jobs done and is beautiful. Exports ms office files, too.

Either that or install gentoo and suffer. I quit win10 for good and am not going back. Apple is going downhill but so is Microsoft atm. We'll see how the future plays.

I don't think you realize that the Macbook Air goes for 1127 retail. Also the thing with Macs is they retain their value after the longest time. He buys the thing now for 800, it sells for 600 two years later in good condition.

The thing with pcs and pc laptops is they're these short-sighted single-use plastic trashes, you buy one for 350 now and it's worth 30 bucks two years from now with a broken fan and a flimsy screen. Macs are valuable. They are premium machines and a whole package. And obviously i wouldn't buy one and install gentoo on it, i'd buy the dell xps or whatever, but then i still have to go thru all the hassle to make it work properly and to use, even. Macs work. They're not for everyone and they're overpriced, but guess what? Not everyone wants your neckbeard GNU/linux/KDE/GNOME/desuROM piles either.

I have to agree that's a drag. But i'm pretty sure it's the only codec etc that is forced down the throat. I mean, I got VLC on my mac, and you can play webms on it among everything else. It's not a closed environment altho Apple's programs are.

But like i said, there isn't anything to consider. It's a computer, it does your stuff as well as any other windows machine. The ride is just more pleasant and the OS is even more locked down than winshit.

Then there's linux, that vomity collection of whatever junk hobbyist /g/scrollers had time and effort to make. But it's free vs proprietary. Socialism vs a ready served table for money. You get to vake your cake and make the effort or you get to buy one from the store but they won't give you the recipe.

The reason I ditched Linux is because of the Richard Stallmans and the world domination conspiracists. GNOME is gorgeous and package management is simple and centralized, all atop a unix-like environment. But the diarrhea icing on the cake is the socialist GNUfags who think a perfectly working, compatible, sleek, and ready-for-literally-anything OS could just pop up magically out of good will of the aspergers that spend their time arguing my little pony and how intel microchips have secret agency backdoors.

I appreciate the effort that went into designing a completely free os environment because in the growing technological world and the spying that comes along it, let alone countries where free speech is limited, we need these tools to fight for actual freedom. But fuck me if I want a luxurious western product that's simple, easy and standing on groundbreaking foundation? You realize Apple invented the desktop metaphor as it stands today, right? The mouse? The windows?

I can pay a premium for an enjoyable desktop experience, and nowhere else am I offered that. Apple literally has a monopoly on seamless and sleek information electronics, while microsoft is pushing botnet hard and taking the ownership of peoples computers by force. And linux is shit but at least it stands a meaning in this world, at least it can be proud to even work. It's enough, linux. You did good. Because those extermists create Gnu and Linux, and it shows in the handiwork. Nothing works in the linux ecosystem because there is no ecosystem. Honestly it's a pretty comfy machine
Bought one because I needed macos for examsoft and some other programs for school, I'm dual booting it with macos and fedora 26.
Macos is nice for normie shit and you get used to the touchpad gestures and all that, but as a proper unix system it's lacking a lot and KDE is much better in terms of usability imo.
If you're gonna stick with macos homebrew and zsh make it ok for daily use.
>>62137138
I would install it for you but I kinda don't have the time, it'll probably run just fine though

You're pretty cool guy. No need for the extra mile there. As I said, it's just a side machine. I'm dual boating win/looney anyways on my main machine.

No it won't, Dell is less reliable than Acer.

Nice shill mactoddler.

Here we have ACTUAL failures, and this is without taking into account Applecare that Apple tries to push so hard for, so Macshit is by far more unreliable in the real world compared to your fake news.

That image is fucking ancient and has no source to back it up. Those aren't actual failure rates either, they were the failure rates according to a 3rd party repair company. Sony doesn't even make laptops anymore and hasn't for a few years now.

Retard

A mactoddler has defended his explosive housefires with survey """"data""" vs real data.

Nice job Pajit, 2 rupees have been deposited at your designated shitting street.

Whatever you say retard, you can't provide a source because you saved that image at some point without even knowing the source because you're so asspained by the success of Apple.
