Even I have to admit that this time they won big. I wonder which of the PC manufacturers will be able to create something comparable. Microsoft tried and failed miserably. Maybe VAIO will create something new???

Thoughts?

>> No.61070129

I got the new Pro assigned to me as a work laptop, and I'm pretty happy with it. (No, I am not a web dev thankfully.)

The keyboard is fucking weird at first but once you get used to it it's excellent. Every other laptop keyboard has wobbly keys after using it, and the tactile feedback makes you stop caring about the tiny key travel.
The trackpad is something you actually can judge from a first impression. They should have waited to remove trackpad buttons until they came up with this. (The extra "deep click" doesn't get activated accidentally, and the pressure is configurable. I disabled it completely because none of my applications use it.)

I'm not particularly happy with the cooling performance, but that's an acceptable compromise to me. All my real computing at work is done on separate boxes in the datacenter anyway.

The touch bar is mostly a meme. You can touch and drag from the volume or brightness icon to adjust them like a slider, which is neat. I don't notice the weird escape "key" as much as I expected to, mostly since I was already in the habit of ctrl-[ in vim.

I miss magsafe, but at the same time I like having power+video in one plug.

Not enough USB ports Yes, I know it's stuoid as fuck to dismiss an entire notebook on on thing. But imagine how annoying it is not beeing able to just put multiole things into it without using adapters.

Same annoyance I have with the "Edge" on my S7E. Annoying as fuck and destroys the whole otherwise amazing ecperience.

Why not just save up for a Honda Grom instead?

As someone who uses this everyday, it can safely be said it's not the fastest or most advanced laptop around.
But the OS isn't garbage and is finely tuned for the hardware. Making use of the same applications on a "better" Windows laptop is far less smooth. I have a higher-end ASUS laptop from last year and it feels like garbage in comparison.

>can't use any existing TB3 devices
This is easily resolved, but i don't see why anyone cares since only faggots have a TB3 device
>can't use USB and wifi at the same time
I tried to reproduce this but couldn't??? Is it possible I have a lemon???
>keyboard louder than WWII cricket
If you care about this, you're clearly autistic
>memetouch emojibar
Get the one... without it?
>no USB-A
Do you realize how long it's been? Move on. Most of my devices already moved on to usb-c because I'm not stuck in the past.
Not to mention there's adapters for the poor pajeets who can't afford to upgrade
>soldered ram
It's a laptop, I don't care
>soldered SSD
It's a laptop, I don't care
>tamper tape on battery screws
I'll admit this is shitty
>applel falls for their own thin meme and uses 54WH battery
>2 hour battery life
Read above

>macshit is good
>Can we finally put an end to this meme?
Macshit is okay. I stand by Dell as the most reliable in today's market. My debian install on my Latitude 7480 is solid as hell.

tldr; Buy and actually use a laptop before complaining, install gentoo

How is it easily resolved? Buy new TB3 devices?
>, but i don't see why anyone cares since only faggots have a TB3 device
Like a Macbook Pro?

>soldered ram
>It's a laptop, I don't care
>soldered SSD
>It's a laptop, I don't care
>cant upgrade your RAM, have to buy a new laptop
>macbook dies, cant salvage any data that wasnt synced or backed up
Half a day or a day's worth of data might be very important to you if you use your laptop for work.

It has nothing to do with the fact it is a laptop. Many/most of the competition laptops in the same segment still have sockets for memory and storage, even if they include onboard (my laptop has 8GB soldered to the board and one SODIMM for expansion for example).

Apple is all about getting people to replace devices every year or every two years.

Only counter-argument when proven wrong.
Kinda sad, I thought there would be a smart person who was against Apple, the hunt continues.

No, they shouldn't. You have 510 fucking nits that prevent the screen from becoming a mirror in bright environments

...Unlike with the terrible alternatives Dell XPS and Microcock Surfeces

And that still won't prevent it.

No matter how much more brighter you make it, it will still reflect, unlike a matte display.
There should at least be an optional Apple online store configuration to put a matte screen in instead, and the same for the iMac.
