I don't see why it would be, although they are really hard to not bottom out. my keyboard is just a terrible keyboard functionality wise - blank keycaps, only 68 keys, etc. but i don't think Gateron clear switches contributes to it.

Put your left hand fingers on asdf and your right hand fingers on jkl;. Note the bumps on F and J to help you find them by touch. Now look down at your hands, go through each key and see what the nearest finger is. For instance Q, A and Z are in easiest reach of your left pinkie.

>> No.60124791

>Caps lock is a widely hated key. [1][2] It usually occupies a prominent place between Tab, Shift and A, and is easily engaged by mistake when reaching for A. To avoid this mistake, many keyboards have a stepped caps lock keycap that places a gap between caps lock and the adjacent letter key.

so i guess stepped shift etc were just to avoid stabilizers but caps lock was often stepped because of the stupid placement. in modern times caps lock isn't important enough to warrant being placed right next to the a key.

Thanks. Also, does it come with a case? How durable is that aluminum? I want to carry my keyboard wherever I go, but I don't want to scratch the living fuck out of it.

not really. for example drevo gramr is only $40 on amazon.
>>pay even more to add an additional board with the keys you lost
you don't need a numpad and you pay more for a full size board anyway (they're more expensive than their tkl equivalent versions)
>>also pay just as much to replace the keycaps
so? you can get thick pbt for like $30 with free shipping

Fucking massdrop.

Those used to be 105.

>> No.60125362

This is true. The actual advantage of a tenkeyless or a 60% + numpad is that you can put the numpad on the left side of your keyboard which requires too much imagination for the average 4chan drone. If you buy a separate numpad and put it on the right, you're basically a grade A fucking moron and guess which anonymous image board is notorious for a high concentration of grade A fucking morons.

There are simple LED mods you can do, but anon its pretty obvious if you have caps lock turned on.

you'd only have it on for a short duration of time and then turn it off when you're done typing with all caps. if you need in indicator for whatever reason you could do it in software with a tray icon or something

>> No.60127409

this + thick PBT keycaps

>> No.60127756

But you can't use an indicator if you're typing in a linux box without a DE, so that LED really helps you know whether you're typing in all caps or not.

Ah fuck I haven't been into mech keyboards in over a year. Just sold my Ducky Shine 3 Year of the Dragon MX Blue and CM Quickfire Rapid with MX Brown with 3 sets of PBT keycaps for a good amount of cash on eGay.

Just bought a Magicforce 68 and some PBT side printed black keycaps from Ali to get back into them...

Did I do gud? Pic related is the keycaps.

Thanks for the response, that doesn't sound too bad.

I'm just curious because I placed an order for a set of enjoypbt caps 2 days ago, but it's still saying they're "getting the order ready"--which I'm taking to mean "not shipped yet". I don't care that much even if it takes 6 weeks--I just wanted to hear that others have been successful.

The best way to travel with them is probably the same as it is for any sub-fullsize keyboard: a metal briefcase with foam cutouts.

>> No.60130058

The one in the pic was handmade, I think. Just pick up a used metal briefcase at a thrift store or something, then get a block of foam like this: https://www.amazon.com/Polyurethane-Charcoal-Convoluted-Foam-Packing/dp/B01G49V4LO and cut out pieces you need to fit in the briefcase. Finally, cut out an appropriately-sized chunk where your keyboard can fit.
