Bullshit. This thread is for faggoty ass jewelry and it belongs in the fashion board.

For 2017 I'm looking to swap out the awful leather band that came with the orient for something nicer, probably sailcloth. I also want to pick up a bit of a nicer watch to wear with a metal strap. I am pretty keen on accutrons and I'll probably look to pick up something from the accutron 2 collection by the end of the year.

Vostok without strap is amphibia with komandirskie watch face.

Accurist celestial, a rebrand of the citizen astrodea, which movement is also found in the campanola cosmosign. Quartz movement with sidereal time that rotates the background stellar disk once every 23 hours 56 minutes 4 seconds (or so, I forget how accurate it is. I think it's within 5 s/d of correct sidereal time) was a huge pain to track down, a huge pain to set correctly, and a huge pain to read, but very cool movement and attractive, detailed dial. Honestly if you find a sistem 51 design you like and have to have a Swiss mechanical watch, go for it, but understand it is a disposable toy (which to be honest isn't that different from a seiko 5, though the seiko will probably have a longer life, given that the swatch doesn't even have a jeweled fork, last I checked) and think hard about what you really want out of a watch - if you double your budget you can easily pick up a used Hamilton which would be much much better.

Happy New Year, dear anons!!!!

A few weeks ago, one of you m8s was kind enough to give me a link for a very rare Seiko that I have interest in, and in return asked me if I could show a pic of my collection.

As some of you know, my watch collection sleeps in a bank's vault so it's nowhere easy to take pics of it, starting by the fact that photographs are not allowed in that place.

However, a couple of months ago I moved from my old apartment to a place closer to my new offices and had also to move the collection to another bank's vault too, as the former one was now to far to go on a dayly basis.

So, long story short, during a weekend I had a bit more that two-thirds of my collection at home and I managed to take a nice pic of them. (Still missing, several high end and vintage, but anyway.)

Enjoy it.

Here m8. Congrats on this new year.

Loving the fuck out of all these pics. Thanks and cheers!!

Buy the Speedmaster m8.

You gotta make a list of all your vintage pieces at some point, you have a lot of neat ones.

The GP 36,000 is a great movement, as are the Omega 56x/75xs, and the Citizen Bullheads you have.

I'm going to have to see if I can get my hands on an Omega 56x/75x this year.

I got so lucky with my King Seiko Special that I'm pretty much done with vintage Seikos short of finding a good deal on a 45xx KS or a blue sunburst 5146.

Also lucky for my fat Canadian ass, the Omega 56x/75x watches had some 37mm and 38mm variants.

Yes, but they aren't the same reference. One is the "normal" panda chrono and the other has the racing dial, with color indications in the subdials to mark laps and shit.

The left one is the normal dial and the right is the rare racing one.

It took me a bit to find a pic of the correct dial. As you can see, the minutes subdial has blue and white stripes and the inner ring has marked seconds, no tachymeter.
The main problem is that most of these dials are aftermaket (fake) so it's quite difficult to find an original one. For example, in pic related the chronograph's seconds hand is yellow, but it should be white or metal with an orange tip also, the day and date rings should be black and the date is japanese-english; this is clearly an aftermarket dial.
Btw, Citizen never realesed that dial with an octagonal case. If you find one, that's -again- an aftermarket (fake) dial.

>When you chance upon a vintage watch that can go 14+ days running +0.0s/d, you don't part with it.

snk803. they're 37mm.
I have a small wrist, just above 6.5" iirc, so it fits me just about perfectly. It's a little smaller than the current fashion for bigger watches, but I'm very happy with it.
I've had it for a little over 5 years now.

Yeah I'm between 2 holes too.

I have a 809 as I love black but the 803 is the second best imo. Nice crisp cream dial.

i only have 6 inch wrists so if it looks dope on you itll surely look dope on me. now im torn between this and the snk809. which would look vbetter with a brown leather strap?

>> No.58287020

You can do a google images search for "snk803 brown leather" and "snk809 brown leather" and decide for yourself.
I feel like the black watch is more versatile than the beige though. I got the 803 because I don't care for black dials myself.

That's cool, thanks for the pictures. That is interesting about the hands, I actually like the yellow better, but do prefer the tachymeter. What do you think of the Seiko 6138-8020?

That looks pretty neat. I bet it looks better in person with the light reflecting off the dial and whatnot. I usually see black leather on the grey recraft, but it goes surprisingly well with the green.

I really like the mako from an aesthetic perspective. I am tempted by the new movement, but I feel like I'm done with lower-tier divers. I might pick up a bluemo down the road though.

Well, having mentioned my 1971 Seiko LM Special 5206-6020, I decided to switch over my new leather strap to it and give it some wrist time.

I also remember someone was looking for a week number watch but I don't know if he ended up with one
That was me.

There are a few snags though, like this one does not account for years with 53 weeks. There are actually some rather weird rules about when week 1 starts. It is NOT necessarily the week having the 1st of January. Instead it is the week with the first Thursday of the new year.

This has the unfortunate disadvantage that you cannot align week numbers easily with month numbers.

I am considering it as well as a Sinn 6052 Financial District watch that has a week dial but is unfortunately black.

There's Seiko 5's from the 60s that are still running. I'd be surprised if it didn't last 5 years.

They should last longer than 5 years, I've got a vintage Seiko 5 from 1980 that has probably never been serviced. It still runs within a couple of seconds per day.

Bought myself a nice cordovan leather wallet in Kyoto but damn I should have bought those watches. I truly do not know why I didn't. Fuck.

My Opinel 8 Carbone arrived today, so now I have that and a Higonokami. What next? I'm thinking more traditional, ethnic, old-school folding knives.
I don't really want a Douk-Douk, the bloody history of that knife in Algeria kinda creeps me out (though I do have two bin-laden terrorists).

Knives are almost like watches so they belong here.

Thinking about getting one of these this year, they're quite affordable relatively speaking and the finishing looks very nice. SARK005 is also a possibility but I don't really like the chrono second hand.

>> No.58288844

The dial is actually gold, it doesn't really show in the picture.

I imagine it's worth the thick end of fuck all. It's a 37 year old mass produced, entry level automatic. It cost me less than £10 on a very worn gold plated bracelet.

You pretty much have the cool history folding knives, unless the spanish Navaja or french Laguiole interest you. If you want ethnic and useful, get a great handmade Kukrhi. If you want just plain nice and useful, CRK Sebenza (large or small depending on use). Or if you want more classic start a Case/GEC/Queen collection.
