Anyone have experience making keycaps from molds? I've heard you can use resin and certain hardening materials, but I have only just begun researching. Is it feasible?

Also, I'm assuming it will only result on blank keycaps, unless you have some method of "printing" the letters/symbols (spray, drawn by hand kek)

>> No.57750956

Making quality keycaps is exactly like making lego. It's expensive, time consuming, and hobbiest methods always fail.

Unless diy abs injection pumps have become cheap.

>> No.57751113

Oh I know, but it doesn't matter for a keycap because it's not gonna have volume (apart from the obvious hollow part with the stem). Yes, if the piece is completely solid it can have a varying amount of filling.

Hey anon. I'm really new to all the mechanical keyboard meme, but now I'm considering to buy one cause I hate my razer keyboard. What keyboard you would suggest with this features:
1. Mate keycaps that don't go shiny after long usage.
2. Being useful for programming, and vim. (without numpad)
3. Shway stealth haxxor look.
4. No backlit.
5. Reasonable price.
6. Wireless (optional).
7. No clicking noise, medium weight.
8. Keys are not flimsy and wobbly.
9. /g/ approved hardware.

First I've heard of it. You could also get the original ergodox kit from falbatech. Plugging in one hand of the original would only work with the half that has the teensy in it though. So you'd have to just physically move it to the side while still plugged in.

Infinity Ergodox is relatively issue free. Except for the useless screns.

Original ergodox would work, but the teensy is on the right hand, not left. You can flip it, but it is a huge pain in the ass.

It'd probably be easier just to print out a dactyl case and hand wire one up.

The ergodox really needs a modernized pcb with dual teensy, rgb underlight, and in switch led support. Ergodox EZ actually sells one with rgb underlighting now, but the price is ridiculous.

The Infinity Ergo would be the go to if not for the terribly gimmicky and useless led screens.

Pic related, one of the better looking ergodox i have seen in these threads. Actually jas a theme and sticks to it, though the underlightning may be a little too much.

I post every thread but I never ever get a response, I guess I'll try again.

>Location (continent at least)
>Preferred switch type
Cherry Brown/Clear
>Form factor
TKL (Media keys would be a plus)
>Previous/current keyboards
K95 RGB, QuickFire TK

Wanted something a bit more plain and understated, the LED's really are disgusting.

Are you just suggesting that because he'll never actually receive a keyboard then?

>> No.57767471

Would rather a keyboard I can actually buy here, I'm just saying my budget is irrelevant not that I explicitly want to go out and buy the most expensive thing available.

Just want something decent that'll arrive sometime this year.

Apparently someone who bought a 60% pcb from him in August just got it. So I guess of you order the simp0le stuff it can get to you relatively fast

I honestly don't know why he doesn't just do assembled keyboards on a commission basis rather than selling it as a consistent service. And I especially don't get why this is considered fucking acceptable by shitters like Geekhack.

I got one. I dont really use it. It doesnt feel high quality but it doesnt feel bad. Keycaps feel pretty good but i dont know about font longevity. Perfect size. Cant really figure out any of the modifier stuff cuz its in chinese. The first time I disconnected it from my PCs USB the casing on the end of the cord poped off cuz chink quality. Its better than the first poker but a pok3r is probably better but the nano has real F-keys.

The cap thickness, different sound, spherical tops. That and I actually prefer SA to either DSA or cherry profile.

Unfortunately PBT SAs in sculptured profile don't exist. The super thick devlin K-series has potential but right now it's just uniform profile.
