>Linears are pretty bad for typing
Care to elaborate? I'm having a hard time imagining them being bad, since I've been okay with membranes/scissors all my life.

I'd get blues like I always wanted to, but I'm afraid of them being too loud in case I have to bring my keyboard with me to a quiet public place.
And I ain't building two keyboards with different switches or buying cherry switches, both of those options are out of my budget.

It took me about three months of studying daily before I could even read easy manga and understand to the most part what's going on.

Being able to comfortably read it about half a year or so. More difficult shit after a year. It's been about two and a half years since I started now, but I mainly just watch raw anime and read manga now.

HHKB is coming along well, got a red control key to match the spacebar and lubed the stems. Maybe I'll pick up a realforce in Japan and swap the 55g domes with the 45 ones in the HHKB.
Or just use the realforce, I don't having arrow keys.

I can mostly touch type as long as I get my hands centered properly. So why do I like having a backlight on a keyboard? It's because it can help me find my hands on the keyboard when I sit down, and also for ambient lighting. With that being said though, I keep my ambient lighting in the family of reds, to help contrast from the blue from the monitor, and the wall color. I keep the LEDs in my peripherals and out of my PC though.

Yeah, I manage the guide over there (or used to rather, I'm still there but most of the work is done by someone else). Glad to hear that it's of use to you.

Make sure to not let yourself get slown down too much. I took a month to learn hiragana even though it could have been done within a week. Once I started pushing myself more I noticed that I could actually go far faster. Don't be afraid to push yourself. Learning a language like Japanese is lots of fun and a great experience.

I think the first thing I read was yotsubato, though I never even finished the first volume since I got bored of it quite quickly.
I then read 砂糖菓子の弾丸は撃ちぬけない and あいうら, I can very much recommend both. There's easier things for beginners (as I found out later), as those two have either a somewhat deep plot or lots of dialogues with lots of unknown words. Just make sure to start a mining deck once you start reading.

Grammar, or basic grammar at least, is the easier part of Japanese, if you've ever had the pleasure to learn a language such as French or German, you'll find yourself praising Japanese grammar to the heavens.

I don't know about takemitsu zamurai. Juding by google images it doesn't look terribly difficult, but if you're still just a beginner you may find it to be a bit challenging. I recommend not worrying about the difficulty of things that you want to read and to just try reading them. If you can read it, then do that. If it's too difficult, then just keep studying and find something easier until you feel confident to try reading it again.

Regular keyboards have almost no tactile feedback and can result in joint strain. With mechanical kbs you know when the actuation happens and you don't have a need to bottom out the keys.

>Regular keyboards have almost no tactile feedback and can result in joint strain
The fuck are you smoking anon.

There's nothing more ergonomic about having tactile feedback. The only benefit that mechanical keyboards offer in terms of ergonomics is the fact that it's quite easy for a single person to design and build a layout that they want (e.g. atreus or ergodox) that's more ergonomic that traditional keyboard layouts. There's nothing more ergonomic about having keyboards that are twice the height of what a membrane keyboard could be.

Learning by ear is something you can do (and that I'd highly recommend, listening practice is important) since it'll give you an idea of how to talk far more than reading will, but I would focus on text-based learning when starting out since when learning by ear most of the things will fly right over your head, since you probably won't be able to understand half the words, and hence also have no idea what the sentences you are hearing are about. Once you start watching raw stuff you notice just how important vocab is.

Yeah, I was thinking of cutting down the edges a bit, but it reminds me of the unique aesthetic of the apple m0110 and other keyboards/microcomputers from that time.

My issue is that I recently moved in with another student at my uni and they have been complaining that my typing is too loud and that it bothers them. My question is whether I should get a new keyboard that is less clicky, or just get some sound dampeners for my keyboard rn. They're one of the lesser known chink knockoffs, take that as you will. They seemed perfectly fine for the ten minutes in which I used them, seemed a bit louder than cherry blues.

who the hell would buy that though

It's not that weird, here's a mouse for Americans.

>> No.55426376

Anon, just because some chinese company makes a whole bunch of food themed computer peripherals that they sell to the internet to people who actually buy them because they hate themselves and just want their wife to propose a divorce already doesn't mean that people that you know will want to buy those from you. Unless they're going through a divorce I guess.

I have matias clicky and none of my switches have chatter. Try RMA?

Just got my first mechanical keyboard. Razer blackwidow ultimate.

How long will it take for me to get used to it?
These 5 memory keys on the left are really throwing me off, keep pressing capslock instead of a.

Boy is it noise lol

>> No.55426659

Go return it while you can and buy something that isn't a piece of shit.

>> No.55426812

about €120, but if it's good i don't mind spending more
>Location (continent at least)
>Preferred switch type
dunno, i tried brown, blues black and reds. blues were nice but too noisy. browns felt weird, but not too bad i think. anyway, i accept suggestions
european (iso ?). i don't expect to get the italian one, i don't mind changing the position of some buttons
>Form factor
fullsize. yes i actually use the numpad
white if possible, rgb is just a waste of money. other colors are fine ofc
>Previous/current keyboards
writing on this right now

i also use the context menu button, some keyboards don't have it

i think i'm going to get the ducky one, but i'd like to know if there are cheaper or better alternatives.

>> No.55426894

seconded, sell it to some gaymer tween as new in box.

plenty of better boards for the same money, like ducky, ibm or hell, even magicforce

>> No.55426953

Idk why, the whole "CLICKY GAYMER KEYBOARD CLICKY XD IT COMES WITH EXTRA CLICKY FOR CLICKY GAYMING XD" meemee bothers me so much but it does....

>> No.55426959

i mean a ducky one is €130, and i doubt i can get anything better for that price

why do people keep buying gaming brands, especially razer? Aren't their reputation for quality dogshit at this point?

Their peripherals literally fail at major tournaments like their arcade sticks.

Are there any retail store chains that have display mechanical keyboards so I can try different switches? I'm afraid to make a commitment without trying some switches first.

>> No.55427641

Most of the switch retailers have a switch tester available for a couple bucks. I've heard that some areas have big box computer stores, and that they normally have some on display...

Planning on buying this
Does any anon have an opinion?

>> No.55428252

Good choice, matias are great switches. Too bad the keycaps are abs.

>> No.55428293

milk got on the keyboard everywhere. somehow its still functional but its dirty and sticky.

Took out the keys and cleaned them, but how do i clean the actual keyboard without damaging it?

>> No.55428365

Give it a bath.

>> No.55428372

Large keys (Shift, enter) feel very stiff and sandy when pressed from the sides and the actuation force is not the same on all keys. Only get them if you're a poorfag starving for a mechanical keyboard. Just pay the extra 15-20 dollars and get something decent.

>> No.55428390

But it doesn't work like that, you dumb shit.

>> No.55429023

AEK keycaps are dye sub PBT. Just replace the alphanumerical keys as bottom row and F are nonstandard.

Matias should be making PBT keycaps later this year.

Is the logitech g610 worth $90?

>> No.55429112

hell no. stay far away from logitech, razer, corsair, and most cooler master boards. 90 will get you a ducky one or kbp v100

>> No.55429170

Thanks for the advice.

>> No.55429192

why stay away from logitech? razer(they're generally junk), corsair(their software is bloatware extreme 2 the max) and cooler master(might as well buy from the oem they buy from) i understand, but what is wrong with logitech specifically

i'd love to see a white backlit brown switched keyboard for $90 from ducky
