Hi /mkg/.
Should I buy this 35$ tenkeyless non-backlit beauty with blue Gateron switches?
It's so fucking tempting, since it's everything I've ever wanted but at third of the price. I can't justify a keyboard over 50$.

I've been shopping for keycaps lately. I can't seem to find the type of keycaps I'm looking for. I'm looking for the rounded, shiny keycaps like pic related, but I can't find any keycaps like this anywhere.

I'm not talking about the font. I'm talking about the shape and the shine of the keycap itself. It just seems like they are very well made and all I can seem to find are plastic crap.

I don't think so. I've looked at those and the PDF seems to imply that there is an actual layer of transparent plastic overlaid over the keycap.

The keycaps I'm looking for seem to look like piano keys, or at least they look like they might feel like piano keys.

Filco is quality as it has always been. They have however not really innovated in anyway, so it's hard to justify their asking price.
Depending how on the keyboard, CM offer about the same for considerably less, take for instance the original cm quickfire. If my memory serves me right, it was essentially a rebranded Filco.

Royal Navy set from mechsupply. Finally a key cap set that combines my love for kech boards and HM's Naval Service.

I just got my first mech.. a magiforce 68. Any idea where to get a nice coiled cable without getting raped by 8 pounds shipping costs from the UK?.

I am still not willing to pay 40 Euros plus for cable...

>> No.55158639

they're just not worth it man, I had a new in box ibm buckling spring and the coiled cable got stretched out after extremely minimal use which deprecated the value of the cable immensely not to mention the cable now looking like shite

You can get DIY kits. It's not hard, but if you want to pay someone else then they tend to be pricey.

Make your own you lazy shit.
Everything you need is available from ebay with free chink shipping.

Hi, I'm currently using a HHKB JP type-s which is all45g topre that I've been using from December, and I'm probably buying a Realforce ALL30g. Both are silenced.

Well, bye

>> No.55159163

where are you buying that realforce? also beware of layout difference.

Can you point me in the right direction?

No worry, I have used the JIS ISO layout for over 6 years now. They're available on Amazon Japan.

'Sup /mkg/, I want to buy a Mechanical Keyboard.
So here's the buyers template filled up.

My budget is pretty shitty, I can spend 70€ maximum on a keyboard.

>Location (continent at least)
Europe, France.

>Preferred switch type
Clicky switches.

I don't get this one, but heck.
I'm in Europe so it's going to be an ISO norm.
For the layout an Azerty compatible keyboard would be nice.

>Form factor
80% or 100%, my preference goes for the 80%.

I don't care if it has leds or no.

>Previous/current keyboards
Current keyboard is a Madcatz V5, not bad but not great either.

Deciding between a Matias and a HHKB. I've been a die hard buckling spring user but I'd like a more compact format.
Can anyone that's used both Topres and White Alps comment on them?

>> No.55162233

currently typing on a Poker II with Penumbra
if Masdrop drops PBT blanks again (https://www.massdrop.com/buy/blank-pbt-keycaps?mode=guest_open) I think I'll sell both and go for a custom with blanks

I've used Topre and dampened cream alps.

Alps are nice, but I prefer Topre, though I don't know about white alps or Matias switches (yet)

i've got boards with orange alps and matias qc
matias are probably the closest mechanical switch to topre, but they don't feel nearly as nice
they wobble and the keycap options are thin abs or nothing
