No idea about switch type, I've never tried any but not so loud that it will piss people in my office off.

Ok /mkg/ I need 2 boards. My switch preference is zeal purples > gatros ergo clears > cherry ergo clears >gatros browns >cherry browns.

Board 1 needs to be a 100% w/ 10 keys. Standard US layout. This will be my desk board. I'd like red backlighting as I practically live in an above ground cave.

Board 2 needs to be a 80% or 10 key less. This board will trudge around with my laptop. If there is a standard layout 60% I might be willing to go for that as the esc and F4 are the only real function keys I use. This board needs no backlight.

I'd prefer both boards to be under $200 each, but that is a little flexible.

I don't think there is any modern switch that works like that. Afaik Space Invaders are similar, but they aren't made since eternity either.

I guess you can try Cherry MX-Blues, or Matias Clicky (KBP V60 Matias). I never tried the NEC switches, but the force diagram implies that you'll probably like MX-Blues (maybe add a heavier spring, like 58.5 or 62g).
Maybe you could also like Matias Clickys, their click is sharper and the switches collapse after the click, so it gets depressed all the way instantly as soon as you reach the threshhold.
Also if you want to go with a custom build you may want to take a look at Cherry MX Whites and add a lighter spring. I really like mine, but prebuilt ones suck ass, as there are 2 kinds of whites that are nearly always mixed (soft and hard clicky ones. You want the first ones, but the latter are just MX-Greens)

Currently I have a Ducky Zero with Browns (yes I know...) which aren't nearly as tactile as I thought they would be and are way too light.
I looked around on Deskthority and >Reddit a bit for experiences of people that went from browns to one of the specified switches.
Turns out most of the people were claiming the increased tactility was actually a bad thing and that Clears were extremely fatiguing to type on compared to Browns even though it's actuation point is only 25 grams heavier.
What's up with all these people having weak pussy-ass fingers?

Because people actually can waste quite some money because of wrong recommendations. I once bought a Topre because people flat out lied about its qualities. It's not shit, it just doesn't feel the way people described them to me.
Anyway. Why O-Rings don't work on blues. O-Rings only work when the bottom-out is what causes the sound. But Blues don't click at the bottom-out. They will make the switch more silent, but ONLY the bottom-out which isn't (or at least shouldn't be) louder than the click anyway.

Great choice. Dunno about the V80, but a nice alu-case made my V60 even better. Really silent, sturdy but due to the dampened switches it still doesn't feel like slamming on a piece of metal when bottoming out. It's quite expensive though...

Does /g/ have anything against razer?
I picked up a blackwidow x chroma tournament edition and it's pretty nice, simple looking, heavy as hell, solidly built, etc. They used to have that gaudy gaymer look, but now it's more subtle and pretty good looking imho. Only main downfall to the design is the glowing razer logo on the front, but that can be turned off and adjusted like any of the keys.
Also, having my keyboard turn into a visual equalizer or adjust or react to games is pretty cool.

On the blackwidow x chroma, they decided to not be special snowflakes and use more conventional fonts. Caps looks pretty good now.

have one myself that I got a while ago. Go read some reviews on amazon, I know that the full size mx clear that I got has a real shitty left shift, it sticks if you hit it at the wrong angle, it's really bad sometimes. It's a problem when the whole model, I'm assuming with all of the code's. Aside from that I love it, solid build, good keys. The media buttons and the backlight are perfect too

so i got a poker 3 for my first mech. its cool, except the fact that the metal backing plate is slightly twisted, causing it to rock on the table. had to move one of those rubber feet. i guess i'll have to live with it, because fuck waiting for returns.

Seriously cannot wait. Even though I use colemak layout and the set will not support it, the colorscheme was simply too original to pass.

Original Cherry profile too. 115 USD for both kits.

Your fix sounds legit. I have the same issue with my wooden wristwrest - small folded piece of paper below one of the feet.

>I know that the full size mx clear that I got has a real shitty left shift, it sticks if you hit it at the wrong angle
Pretty sure that's because of a loose stabilizer insert. Easily fixed by cutting a piece of plastic as a shim.

where did you buy those caps?

>> No.55140521

you could probably desolder the functioning switches and put them on a new board. teensy's are like $20 and then you just need to get the plate and case made you're looking at like $60 if you reuse your switches and caps

ISO PBT dyesubs are coming. It might take a while but it's gonna happen this year.
There already are molds for ISO specific keys. Because dye sublimation is really just a printing method it'll be easy for a manufacturer to create small batches for rare layouts.

£100 or less, the cheaper the better 2bh

>Location (continent at least)

>Preferred switch type
Black/clear sound pretty good on the chart. I've never used a mechanical keyboard before so I don't really have any experience with the different switch types to be honest. The keyboard will be used for general desktop shit, mainly vidya and I think I'm a relatively heavy typer.

If it looks nice I guess, unimportant really, good caps > backlight.

Shitty cheap membrane keyboards, no real frame of reference.

Ducky one - 80 britbongs.
Probably the cheapest high quality keyboard. You can get it with backlight for 20 bongs extra.

Frog here. I hate the french layout. It's not convenient at all. The problem is that the english keyboard isn't suited neither, or even dvorak since we use a lot of letters like
é, è, ê, ï, î, œ, à...
What would be the best way to create my own keyboard layout ?

Anon, it's a fucking cable. They're probably both perfectly fine since anyone who can't even put a cable together properly and make it looks halfway decent would have been out of business ages ago.

Hi /mkg/.
Should I buy this 35$ tenkeyless non-backlit beauty with blue Gateron switches?
It's so fucking tempting, since it's everything I've ever wanted but at third of the price. I can't justify a keyboard over 50$.

This. Although I got red switches because I don't like the little bump, and I always bottom out my keys since I've been using slim keyboards up until a little while ago.
