Those Benrus/Omegas being sold via eBay from Guyana are pretty obviously being used for money laundering imo, the same guy has all kinds of preposterous items listed at such values. Clearly criminal associates of the 100% authentic Nigerian Prince variety are bidding on these items which have the same pictures, paying him, and he's then forwarding the money on their behalf

Pains me to see Orient make things like that. I know they can and do make good stuff, so why do this

>> No.54758160

As it turns out, I paid too much. I originally won the auction for a little over 28,000 yen or $330 Canadabux, but then Buyee inexplicably charged me in British Pounds, I had to pay their fees, I had to pay shipping, and then I got keked by Canadian customs. So in the end I'm into it for a lot more than I originally anticipated. Still a good deal compared to the ~$650 you'd be paying on eBay, but not a screaming bargain by any stretch.

I also have:

Although the 6106 is not exactly "JDM". I'm going for a 52xx next.

Seconds can go offf sync sometimes.

Buttons are not easily accessible. Light button is hard to press with gloves.

Sides of the casing are not screwed, so they end up widening and leaving a gaping hole on both sides you have to superglue.

I'd say the 5000 1JF is objectively better

relax I'm just breaking balls

the bracelet feels really cheap and hollow, a lot of rattling when your wrist moves. dropped it a few times its like there are bent links now if that makes sense, the clasp area was bent too so you have to sort of bend it back to close the clasp and it's prone to fly open on you. also scuffs ridiculously easily as well.

sort of hard to see in the pic but you can see it doesn't sit flush at rest

The syllabus said that he curves the class avg to a 75. Which is actually very low for the 2nd hardest undergrad class. A 40 in Yale is an A in their orgo classes.
What the syllabus doesn't say is that he fucking drops the low end of the curve. So if the class avg is a 50 he inflates it to a fucking 70, avoiding having to give us a curve.
After the first exam 2/3rds of the class dropped dispute the avg being a "75".

Kek, I needed an escape wheel, but not anymore. Turns out that the pivot was buried under so much grime that with the naked eye it looked like it had broken off.

What are you basing that on? It looks like all their other 60-minute chronos. Chrono seconds are center, chrono minutes at 9 o'clock, runnign seconds at 6, and 24-hour hand at 3.

I have a Seiko meca-quartz with the same layout.

SRP701 or SRP703.

This doesn't seem to be common though. I've disassembled some slav movements in the past and they didn't have any of this sort.

Or i'm just getting blind.

>> No.54790337

Thanks anon. I was considering these.
I'm not looking for gold, just the overall design.

But now I realise that it's simply the gold's aesthetic value that makes PP look so gorgeous in the first place.

File: 66 KB, 800x600, slava_pallet_fork.jpg [View same] [iqdb] [saucenao] [google] [report]

It's from a 70's Jap Ricoh. Soviet watches are pretty conservative though, with the most unusual thing I can think of being the double mainspring barreled Slavas. They also have a weird pallet fork though.

>> No.54790715

I'm aware of Ricoh, but never quite delved into their movement(s ?).

SARY055 is also a nice option.Though If you had a little bit of a bigger budget the SDGM001 is far better.

Personally i'm saving up for either an SDGM003 or for a Citizen grand classic.

I like the black dialed version.

The nicely decorated and higher beat movement is a plus. Hows the overall feel on the bracelet, and does it have solid endlinks?

>> No.54790934

The bracelet is pure sex. Every link is made of multiple milled pieces with different finishes, even the endlinks. Extremely comfortable, although there is no microadjust, just a half link. Mine is the silver version, the dial is incredible.

>> No.54790985

Alright, shame about the lack of micro-adjustments.

But it's going to be a quite while till i get it with all the shit i got going on, so plenty of time to decide.
