File: 1.43 MB, 400x254, Bane.gif [View same] [iqdb] [saucenao] [google] [report]

>> No.54574547

I made the canvas pretty long so there won't really be an issue with the crystal's scratching against each other or against buckles. It's big enough that both watches can sit crystal side to the bottom and not be bulky, and the leather lace tightens so that they sit and stay in place.

>> No.54574583

Oh, that's one way to address it. I think the w&w one is short enough that it might be necessary for the protective flap because they made it as small as practical to make it compact, which would necessitate alternating the watches in the case. What kind of leather did you use?

As far as i recall the guy is a Russian who occasionally posts here.

Funny enough, that's a custom insert that costs ~10$ on it's own. Plus that chink mesh strap is another 15$.

Same annoying early morning alarm cat huh?

Depends on your wrist really.

If it's at least 6.75 inch, ideally 7inch go for the 110. Any smaller go for the 420.

I got a 7.25inch wrist and the 420case doesn't quite sit quite as well as the 710 or 090.

There is another one incoming.

What he means by saying both "+60s/d" and "junk" is that it is currently running +60s a day, but he provides no warranty whatsoever that it will work once you buy it.

Basically, they virtually all list vintage watches in "as is" condition and will not accept returns or exchanges on them.

That's the gamble you take with Y! JP, but so far none of the watches I bought from there that were listed as running needed any parts. Plus, you can get non running parts spares for pretty cheap there if necessary for a parts donor.

This Accurist my parents got me for Christmas years ago. Reasons for hate.
1. It's a shitty 'chrono' with centre running seconds hand so the outer tachygraph is pointless.

3. I didn't realise it has a retarded 23mm lug width so the 22mm rally strap I bought has gaps.

Vintage Seiko afficionados

What usually causes the position of the date wheel to "change"? Apparently pushing in the crown on this one advances the date, so the pawl can't be broken, but why the fuck would the date wheel just shift like that?

Functions the same as the 7009A's quickset, but yeah it should be pretty reliable as no people said there issues with them.

I think i've read somewhere that as long as the stem is correct and there is no dirt&grime on the back of the crown it'll work.

That looks really awesome.

Any idea on what model is that?

I'm having a bit of trouble with my lm special. The date isn't working great, I can change the dat fine but I have to force the date quite hard to get it to change. I also had to shake it a few times to get it started from being completly dead

What do you think I should do?

Like, half of the time it doesn't switch on it's own?

Josef i told you not to try quicksetting between 9pm~3am.

Nah, I can rotate the crown fine to change the day, but when I go to change the date it requires a substansial amount of force

>> No.54592842

That's part of the 52XX design, while you quickset the date it also handwinds the movements. It was a brand new caliber so it had a few young age issues.

It should feel the same as handwinding it.

I probably wouldn't, to buy a hat means you need to deal with an Indian, it will be deceivingly bad, if you want a meme watch get a Russian one, Vostok amphibian, Poljot de lux or raketa big zero are the meme line up

>> No.54592923

That's more or how it should feel.

The movement were constructed that way so not much to do about. Plus it doesn't really damage the movement.

>> No.54592982

Europe is the land of huge taxes

Buy it from seiya Japan, they will ship it overseas

>> No.54592991

Wouldn't recommend it. They made a lot of these "skindivers" back then, all the same: base metal cases with that scuba dude on the back to assure you "it's the real deal", jewelled with one or two jewels but no shock protection (on a sports watch, no less), and those plastic bezels that aged poorly and cracked off over the years. I've made the mistake of buying these in lots on ebay before, thinking they looked neat and were repairable given my amateur skills but most have broken balance staffs and rust.

I do however own a Timex Originals Diver which is a nice quartz tribute to the styling in stainless steel.

>> No.54592997

A group buy community, you buy in bulk so you can pay less, it's only useful for europeans/non-americans tho, as the prices on Massdrop are almost the same as amazon.com, but the shipping prices are way lower

Hey goys,

Anyone ever ordered from cheapest nato straps? I'd like to know what variety of ZULU rings and buckles they sell, whether it's the solid steel variety, or the bent tubing variety, the first being tough and heavy, the second being not soldered and thus opened on one side, and so light it tends to swing instead of remaining in place. It DOES look like the shitty bent tubing which would explain the price too, but you never know.

I'm more interested in the 5 ring orange varieties, if anyone ever happens to have bought one:

I mailed the store, but I'd kinda doubt they'd answer honestly, if they even understand what I'm talking about.

Otherwise I'll go for the Timefactors one, which I know is solid steel, but only available in PVD, not shiny steel: http://www.timefactors.com/rhinostraps.htm

>> No.54594354

Cheapest nato are just decent quality chink nato's with faster shipping.

Timefactors, Maratac and the Italian ebay sellers have far superior straps.

>> No.54594469

That's quite obviously a planetary gear.

>> No.54595138

There isn't much difference when it comes to a nylon strap, granted, the seams and finish of holes and ends differs albeit you can fix that yourself, but then it's really all about the rings.

Cheap chink straps often have hollow aluminium tubes bent into a "C", with the gap hidden underneath the part where it's sewn into the strap, but some DO have quality full solid rings. You can easily tell the difference by looking at the bent part, as it will really look like it's bent from hollow material, and it looks so in the picture.

But who knows how much pictures and the actual product differ, considering they source them from different manufacturers on alibaba.

>> No.54595265

How does that strap look on the wrist? Do you have a picture?
From this one I get the impression it's slightly too bright.

>> No.54595288

you're an idiot.
