Calling Bullshit on your story, faggot!

There are 276 reviews on amazon, with 83% giving it 5 stars.

So if the coat would have been that bad, people would have rated it way lower.

>I also realized that the black and gold was horribly tacky

After you have seen it on pics or a watch shop?

Why do you make up stuff? Somebody in a seiko cucked you or what?

>> No.53613602

A lot of not good stuff can get pretty high ratings. A lot of non-watch people buy one on a whim and then after a month or two it sits in a drawer until the battery dies and they throw it away during their next move. Or spring cleaning or something.

I wouldn't put much faith in any cheap black coating, really.

Believe what you want, I thought it was cool at the time because I wasn't really knowledgeable about watches. After I wore it for a while it just got old really fast, I replaced it with a mako and gave it to my brother. The clasp is where the coating was coming off, it was very obvious because of the high polish finish.

I never wore a watch in my life. But something happened to my health and I needed to keep track of time at my job. So I started wearing one. I work in a dangerous environment so I needed something that would take abuse.

I bought a gshock by casio. I paid $60 at the time. Mine is black, with red accents and a green light glow. It's a very durable nice looking watch. However I bought the digital display version. Which is much easier for me to quickly check. It is not a fashionable watch and it's not very comfortable, but it does exactly what I need it to. I kind of wish I opted for the Analog version, but it was another $60 at the time.

I think I can live without it, but I like the idea of a watch and I might wear something much more fashionable with good color accents. Definitely has to be analog. I am considering a smart watch too. I saw that casio is also making a g shock smart watch. But I like the fitbit smartwatches.

>> No.53620112

Stones or jewels were developed in watches to reduce friction at the points of heaviest wear. When metal rubs against metal and when oil breaks down, the damage to pivots and bearings can be rapid and devastating in terms of watch repairs. So in a nutshell, in order to reduction wear and friction between two pieces of metal that rub against one another, watch makers use (today synthetic rubies) hard stones as friction points as they last a lot longer than metal.

>> No.53620142
File: 275 KB, 1664x895, Tempering_standards_used_in_blacksmithing.jpg [View same] [iqdb] [saucenao] [google] [report]

The screws have been heat treated to a very specific temperature which makes the steel a pretty blue color and makes it resistant to rust (most watch parts are stainless steel which is very rust resistant, but screws are carbon steel which rusts easily).

The pink things are synthetically produced rubies. They are used as bearings on high friction surfaces because they are very hard and resistant to wearing down and also have low friction against steel with only very minimal lubrication required. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jewel_bearing

Sapphire is used for the crystal over the dial mostly.

>> No.53620225

Sapphires and rubies are the same compound (corundum), it's just that for historical reasons a red corundum gem is called a ruby and a blue or other color is called a sapphire. For whatever reason they always use red and I haven't seen anything different.

However it is common to use transparent uncolored synthetically grown sapphires as the watch crystal. It's much harder than regular window glass so it's harder to scratch.

Personally I think the white SARB looks better on its own and is better suited to work as a dressy watch (in b4 9gag reminds us all that it's actually a sport watch), but the black SARB could look better if you want to wear it really casually. Seiko 5s are surprisingly nice quality for $55 or so, but only some of the Seiko 5 styles are that cheap and you may not like it. Timex makes very reliable but loud quartz watches ($25-$40 for time-only models, $55ish for chronographs) which I think are kind of cheap looking but are not too bad. Casio digital watches ($10 up to like $25ish) are ass ugly in my opinion but you really can't argue with how dirt cheap and very practical and reliable they are.

1) No real opinion.

2) Some watches especially dress watches aren't as immediately legible as, say, some aviation-style watches but maybe that's just me - I prefer pilot/aviation styles for the legibility. Also not enough decent 24-hour chronos exist. The Glycine Airman SST 12 Chronograph would have been in my possession already if the dial wasn't a messy shitshow. The lume on the hands too isn't the best.

Bonus A) Not much of an opinion

Bonus B) More bracelets should have micro adjustment. I like how the Rolex bracelets have that little clasp in them.

1) Cheap automatic chronographs, or cheap mechanical chrono's in general. Interesting complication at a moderately affordable prices. Cheaper and new watches with smooth sweeps like Accutrons,Cosmotrons, Elenix, high beats, and SD.

Make movements and watches that more slim small to be more akin to older watches. (For example, my LM special is close half the thickness of a Seiko 5)

2) Simple, nice looking designs instead of Richard Mille instrument master tier.

Follow simple elegant design lines, some vintage some new and make not too overly complicated watches. (Why do you think normies like DW? shit looks nice a simple)

A)As a continuation of 1), crowns that support multiple functions like a single crown (No extra pushers) single register chronograph.

B)too wide of a question, but have more manufacturers use solid or hollow endlinks instead of curved and use proper fucking lugs.

>> No.53628049

Except I don't have skinny forearms but nice try.

Gonna post a pic after I take a shower.

>> No.53628187

Not really answering one of the questions specifically, but I like complicated watches with simple dials and few crowns or pushers.
Tourbillons not visible on the dial. Monopusher chronographs. Single register chronos. I always love the stuff that looks normal but has actually cool shit in it.
Also, stop writing the specs of the watch on the dial. Name of the brand of course, model name is acceptable. Put the specifications on the back if you want to.

But we do see some of that coming out. The Lange datograph perpetual tourbillon has a relatively uncluttered dial, the power reserve is not in your face but stil very legible. Seiko starts putting the PR of their high-end spring drives in the display back. I love that stuff.

Also, something I think is too rare is "complicated" quartz movements with analog display. You have so much possibilities with quartz that are all but impossible to make with mechanical.
You could have a 3 hand watch that becomes a chrono, shows a second time zone, can show the date at the press of a button... and still looks like a normal 3 hander in normal use. I think I've seen one watch that had that kind of stuff, and it wasn't that great.

I want two things:

1) Simple, affordable, mechanical chronographs. Handwound to make the watch thinner. I am tired of seeing the Valjoux 7750 subdial placement everywhere. Monochrome or two colors. No elaborate textures or shapes. <40mm.

Unless you want to find some chink watch with a Seagull ST-17 in it, which will more then likely have questionable QC at best, nothing really.

Go find some NOS vintage watch, or just a decent looking one.

They claim it has a sapphire crystal , any way to tell for sure. Also it is automatic and hand winding which was a pleasant surprise.

Try to scratch it, I guess. Also uncoated sapphire is much more reflective than mineral glass, but it would be hard to tell for sure based on that.

I'm not an expert but I don't like the dial at all.
First what't the point of the non roman numerals on a dress watch? Second why are they external to the indices? Third the two kinds of indices for the seconds are retarded, there's no need to distinguish past every 15 seconds at max.

Some mall tier luminox / tag knockoff.
Get a Marathon TSAR instead.

Haute as fuck Diesel.
