The cooler master and the type heaven are both relatively cheap for a topre.

I'd say that the high price comes from the fact that they generally have quite good build quality, pbt caps and that the switch is a whole lot more complex than MX.

Is there any way to test out any of the switches aside from the ones from bestbuy? They have the red switches which felt weird to me, strangely enough the razer had a nice clicky feel to them (but felt slightly less quality than the red despite having a more satisfying press), and that logitech keyboard the orion or whatever felt like mushy garbage and the key caps were all angled funny.

Are there any other possible locations that have some keyboards on display that I could try out? I say this while typing on a 50 dollar blue switch that I am loving so far but I am certainly curious about what is out there since keyboards seem to be very limited on actual true experiences(unlike headphones or mice)

Just take the leap of faith. I've tried greens and blues, these feel so much better imo.

>> No.52337394

General consensus is that the keyboard itself is fine but that the keycaps are very cheap.

Loudness of the keyboard depends on the switch and how hard you type. If you have a clicky switch its gonna be loud, if you type really hard and bottom out with force it will be loud. You can look into o rings.

That's kind of depressing, half the reason I went with WASD was the customizable keycaps. I even bought custom Windows 95 1x1.25 keys to replace the ones they come with. Oh well, I guess I'll take this as a lesson learned.

I'll keep that in mind for my next keyboard purchase. Clears are still stiff, right?

>> No.52337447

They're as loud as browns, but with the actuation force of blues and a rapidly increasing resistance once you've crossed the tactile bump.

I liked browns on my first board, and absolutely loved clears on my second.

>> No.52337477

That's just the received wisdom. I know it sucks, but you may not have problems. But getting new keycaps is fun, you'll find a cool set and move on.

I really like the HHKB. It's compact and looks aesthetic as fuck.

Just one thing about Topre: When you switch to Topre, it's not as much of an overwhelming difference as when you switch between cherry switches (it's a large difference, but I wasn't blown away like I was switching from browns to clears). It's far more of a somewhat subtle, but really really comfy feeling of typing on them together with the really nice and comfy sound.

After a few hours, you start to feel like you just want to keep typing on it all the time, it's a really nice feeling.
