Well I did normie programs like chromium, vlc, and Spotify.

>inb4 chromium enjoy your botnet.

But if you're looking for serious programs then get gimp (which there are a billion tutorials on how to get it to look like Photoshop instead of the shitty multi windowed ui it comes with), vim for programming in console otherwise I'd use eclipse b/c you have tons of support there, and either xfce or mate desktop environment because pretty much everything else is pure ground up nigger meat.

Also wine is handy if you know what you are doing, or have playonlinux.

It's also fucking awful. All the installers are just hacky-as-shit scripts written ad-hoc by clueless users. There is no infrastructure to any of it, no code-sharing, no pluggable formulas for solving common installation problems.

That's adorable.
If you're a power-user, Linux has plenty of quality applications. If you just use facebook and youtube, yeah Linux isn't going to be worth the trouble.
Having total control of an OS is awesome, and building off that with programs that let you tweak and utilize every bit of your PC is damn cool.

I'm not all that bothered, to be honest. It'd just be nice to have the exact same no-hassle experience as when you insert a Windows disc, is all.

And then when you want to do any work whatsoever requiring design software or CAD software you're forced to crawl back to Windows because Linux's offerings are shite and non-compliant with industry standards.

Kek, you know shit about standards, because 3D industry don't want standards, ask autodesk when they'll change their shit tier format for something useful like collada.

You seem angry anon. I'm sorry your precious OS isn't useful to me in my work environment.

Also Blender runs like absolute shit on Linux compared to its Mac or Windows offerings.

You can get mad about AutoCAD all you please, but it doesn't change the fact that, currently, it is the de-facto standard for using CAD files for anything beyond hobbyist work and I need to accommodate that.

nope I'm not angry in fact, you may be working in it but you seemed to deny that the defacto is total crap, nor to know how a standard is made when a compagny got the market. Ask the Iso group about shitty docx and you'll understand why I'm sicked at AutoCAD for not using a proper standard.

As far as I see it, it run at least as good on Linux and Windows: Linux freeze a sec or two once every 10hours or something. But it don't go fucking retarded with Ctrl or Ctrl+Shift (flipping between AZERTY-QWERTY is fucking worst than a small freeze).
