I did read about the QC issues with the previous version of the keyboard, especially with the LEDs dying. I thought they fixed that with the RGB version, which is pretty much the main reason I paid a £10 extra. (I found it on Amazon for only £110, which is pretty good value for what it supposedly offers).

From what I've heard the software/drivers are a bit buggy with this keyboard (and I suppose can be patched in the future), but the general opinion was that the keyboard's construction quality was excellent.

I'll do a bit more reading into those issues anyway, as it's not too late to cancel the order if I want.

>> No.49668952

>I did read about the QC issues with the previous version of the keyboard, especially with the LEDs dying. I thought they fixed that with the RGB version, which is pretty much the main reason I paid a £10 extra.
Hit or miss really. They haven't been consistent.

>From what I've heard the software/drivers are a bit buggy with this keyboard (and I suppose can be patched in the future),
Just look at that gifv Its been almost 2 years since they released the keyboard and it still has those issues. I don't know why you would put your trust in such a shitty company.

>but the general opinion was that the keyboard's construction quality was excellent.
Thats not saying much these days, most of the recommended boards in the OP will have a steel plate (making it sturdier than Corsair's aluminum plate) and have the same if not better build quality than Corsair

And you're still missing one of the most important problems listed in that list above, non standard bottom row. You will not be able to change keycaps easily and even if you can, you won't be able to get any good keycaps.

If your main reason for getting a Corsair board is the RGB, wait for the Ducky Shine 5, it has full RGB and will probably have none of those problems.

>> No.49669161

Does anyone know if there is a pink Stump Brocap?

>> No.49669199

I'd say the main reasons I chose this keyboard over something like the CM Quickfire series were that it has dedicated media keys, a wrist rest and genuine Cherry MX switches (as opposed to other RGB keyboards, but RGB isn't vital in my choice). It ticked all of the boxes and seemed to be of decent quality from what I heard from most reviews. I'm doing a bit more reading now to look for any other consistent flaws since Corsair seem to have quite a good refund policy on the keyboard (due to some of them having those issues you stated).

I have exactly that keyboard, bo for it bro, its perfect imo.

I use shortcuts if im not using directly the programmed keys. In Poker3 and in a lot of mechs you can program your keys for doing whatever you like (let's say for example that you dont need or dont use so much the "Caps Lock" Key but you use so much End key and you think that pressing FN+N, that tbh is not that hard, is shit. ok then, you change it and thats it, now your Keyboard will always go to End if you press Caps lock. And that with all the keys)

There's even more, you can have several layers on your keyboard just in cse you dont want to have the keys configured liek this all the time, you may like to have your arrow keys on IJKL without having to press FN becouse... idk but for some reason. so you can have a normal layer (in poker3 you've got 4 layers, a default one and 3 programmables) and then another one for example for document reading or functions (Pic Related, my FN layer).

You swap between them simply by clicking only once fn+m for layer 0, fn+, for layer1 and etc etc

So yeah, my recomendation man is to do it, if you've got some doubts ill be arrount here.

>> No.49673958

None of the games I play use F keys "in the heat of the moment"

They use them for things like starting a match, voting, or quicksave/quickload.

For those purposes I was able to get used to using the FN+# pretty quickly.

I would say of anything I miss arrow keys the most. Although I used WASD for gaming, for some reason I haven't really gotten used to using FN+WASD for moving around text.

Overall I would say you need to assess your circumstances as to whether 60% or TKL is better for you. Put your current keyboard in your ideal position relative to your mouse/mousepad (overlap if necessary just to find the right position). If the arrow keys overlap with your mouse space, then 60% would benefit you, if only the numberpad overlaps, just go with TKL.

Personally I bought a 60% and have really enjoyed it coming from fullsize, but at the same time I have realized that I would be fine (or better served) with a TKL. I find that when playing games I put my keyboard far enough away from the mousepad that TKL wouldn't obstruct, and when typing at desktop I tend to move my keyboard closer, but then I no longer need to have as much mouse mobility so again I could accommodate TKL.

Just tested around to try and get my LEDs to flicker like they do in his video, they do that if I try to fuck up my color scheme badly, but they don't have any flickering at all when I'm setting it up correctly.

>> No.49682727

>Is a 40% keyboard like the planck more ergonomic?
Thats not how ergonomics work. For it to be ergonomic you would need to change your default hand resting position.

>I have manlet hands, 75% keyboard is kind of a stretch, but I'm pretty fast and accurate on 60%.
I'm confused by this. 75% keyboards are the same as 60% keyboards except with more keys. The actual key locations and spacings are the same.

>I wonder if 40% would get my wpm up and errors down.
It won't change anything in terms of typing speed. The only real difference is layers for "missing" keys.

>So I guess is it better to have your fingers stretching when you type or cramped up for short reach?
The pressure on your wrist is more problematic typically than finger position.

>> No.49682799

75% arrow keys aren't on a different layer like 60%.

Escape key and f1-12 keys are also further reach.

75% is only comfortable for me when I don't go outside the 60% zone which is never, because I'm always using arrow keys.

Gotcha, well just a note for you, I would consider changing your term of "ergonomics" to something like "convenience" if you ask this question again. Since it seems like you're talking about liking having arrow keys on the homerow+fn rather than having to move your hand to the default arrow key locations; unless I'm misunderstanding that.

To answer your first question, I would say a 40% would work for you if you don't often have to enter in numbers. Having to switch between the number and alpha layer would be a real pain unless you hardly ever do it.

>> No.49682942
