Most of the wobble is characteristic of the key switch. Stickering reduces how much the two halves of the switch housing can move relative to each other by forcing the clips to hold tighter, but it does nothing for the wobble of the plunger itself.

To effectively reduce keycap wobble you either need a stabilizer like a scissor switch, or the switch needs to have a short and/or wide slider to begin with. Kind of like pic related.

Hey /g/, babby's first mechanical user here.
I'd really love to try and make my own keyboard, but so far aside from cumming buckets over your keyboard's pics I didn't really get the procedure.
At the moment I'm rocking a QuickFire TK w/ Reds, looks good but I wanna go back to MX Blues and this looks like a good opportunity to try this.

I don't know what DSA means nor any of those words you say, and I feel quite embarassed about posting here without knowing jack shit about this.

So far I'm guessing you have to buy a custom board, then the keycaps you prefer and a custom cable. But where?

If any anon's so kind to help me with this journey, I would happily appreciate it. Budget is around 300€ (around 400$)
Keep in mind though that I live in this shithole called Italy and I don't have much of a shipping choice except for intl, if that's the case. I'm hoping that some of you can help me.

Which is basically the chassis + board and key switches all prebuilt? Possibly I'd need to buy these + keycaps and I'll be golden?

2) I see on many people on /g/ use those 60% boards that don't have the arrow keys nor the numpad. Now, how does this work? Is it like the TK who has a mode switch or is it like... you don't need them at all? I'd like to go for a full minimal style like those but you know, I kind of use the numpad a lot. Might as well get the full size. Thanks for all the answers

>> No.43645040

Yeah it's all together, I think you're overcomplicating it a bit thinking that any major seller is going to send it to you without it being prebuilt. Only a VERY small proportion of these keyboards would be sent like that, 0.001% probably.

Yeah, buy the board and then customize the keycaps how you want, or even get the keycaps from a different site - which I would recommend unless you want a very specific colour layout.

60% and TKL keyboards just dont use the numpad at all, a 60% will have FN keys all over for things like print screen, Home, Insert etc. If you wanted to be extra fancy you could get a TKL keyboard, and then buy a Numpad separately, which although would look very cool, is gonna cost quite a bit.

I've got a poker (60% keyboard) and I just never used the numpad and thought it looked nicer.

First off I don't give a fuck who he is if he's posting misleading information.

Topres are even less mechanical than rubberdome membrane as there's no actual switch mechanism and no physical contact is ever closed. Pseudo-mechanical is an utter nonsense term for them. They are capacitive switches.

The key travel also isn't smooth at all. There's mounting pressure until the rubber dome suddenly collapses (force required depends on which version of the dome is installed). It's a lot like a regular rubber dome, except there's a more crisp feeling from the higher quality domes Topre makes. It feels a bit like popping bubble wrap. What's smooth about them is the low slider friction and soft landing from the rubber.

I like in Taco Land so getting someone that is shipped from Taiwan/China to the US and then paying for the shipping (USPS is absurd, upwards of 40 bucks even with small packages) and added retailer US cost becomes absurd specially because I'm not looking for something ultra high range ($100-$150 USD budget)
