Lemme just search the FRU on this thing...

Difference this thing has compared to the normal X300 unit is that it has a glossy bezel instead of the matte finish like on the lid/palmrest

Any W500 fags here? Any difference from the P8400 from the T9400?
Not sure if I want to spend the big bucks on a T9800 CPU...
Gonna toss a W500 mobo onto a 15" T60 flexview case, I think I'll just need a W700 LCD ribbon cable, as the W500 one does work for the screen but the cable is too short for the inverter. Too scared to solder the pins.

The one I had pictured had like nothing wrong with it other then the battery only charging to 80%
Which lasts 1:30 to 3 hours... I got lucky on a 1.8" SSD for $45

The X301 I had got was $118 with a best offer, but its rough around the edges and there seems to be some dirt in the display, the bezel is cracked in two area. I bought a CD drive for it and took the battery for my unit. I figure I could sell it for $200 or so. I hope.

Usually they are taken care of, but they are in the $250+, even up to $400.
I get turned off when I see the speaker guard dirty. Its a dog at processing tho... will get linux on it and see.

I payed only 5 bucks at a Salvation Army
But IBM Selectric, especially working model 1s are quite rare, and probably go for a couple hundred bucks on ebay.
I thought i was the luckiest guy in the world when i found it, but right now I'm looking for someone who wants it and will preserve it, because it's a piece of history.

My first Thinkpad, over 8 years old (I've owned it for 2) but still running great. Paid 200 bucks for it, totally worth it. For a poorfag like me it was a great deal. Currently it's my only computer.
>came in great condition, only has minor wear to the palmrest now.
>15", 1600x1200 IPS panel. This is probably the one of the best screens Lenovo has ever offered. It's like getting laser surgery after a lifetime of nearsightedness.
>40 gig SSD. Between this and due to running Linux (Mint, I am a lazy casual, sorry) this Thinkpad feels as fast as any new Windows machine.
>2Ghz T2500 Core Duo. This is probably the shittiest component...it's only a 32 bit processor, but the socket can take newer C2Ds that are x64. However, this is of limited use due to...
>2GB RAM limit. The mobo just won't recognize more than 3. However, on a Linux system that's not as limiting. Unless I'm running CS2 in my XP VM it doesn't even come close to using it all. Usually with Firefox, GIMP, Nemo, LibreOffice, XnView, & Clementine open I hover around 1 GB usage.
>great keyboard, it's no Model M but for a laptop it's more than decent. The keys are nicely sized, all 7 rows, and have just the right amount of 'clickyness' without being too stiff or mushy.

Despite its limitations and age, it still feels like a top of the line machine (they cost around 3 grand when released iirc) and has a great 'feel' to it. It's a solid, well built machine that is a true joy to use. I thought Thinkpads were just another /g/ meme, but it's no bullshit, the old ones are great fucking computers.

Any of you have much experience with ebay?

I ordered a new battery for my x61 T over 6 weeks ago and it still hasn't arrived. It was originally supposed to arrive after 3-4 weeks but when it didn't I contacted the seller and they said give it 4-5 weeks. Since it's now past their own ETA and it was my last chance to open a ticket in the ebay resolution centre I opened one.

The seller is offering to try resending a new one, should I go for it or is that some way of absolving themself of responsibility and now they can say they tried shipping two and it's not their fault I didn't get them?

I don't use ebay much and I'm not a clever man so I need to be careful not to get scammed.

Cheap to buy them secondhand. Durability, repairability, modularity, upgradeable, and maintainable.

This is the cost of not having an extended battery.

>get an ultrabay battery

>get a dock for dual 2560x1440 monitors
Not that it's too much of a problem, but you would have to have one of them plugged into the DP port on the laptop since the dock only has 1 DisplayPort and 1 single-link DVI (which can't power that resolution).

Other than that, I use a T420 and have a dock and use it as a desktop replacement, works for me.

What kind of battery lives are you guys getting on your thinkpads? (Also please list if you have done anything to enhance the battery life, like installing laptop-mode-tools). T420 with 9-cell, Win7 and Lenovo Power Manager. CPU is under-volted, screen brightness is usually at 10/15, and it has an SSD.

I'm never gone 100% -> 0% battery, so I'm not entirely sure since the estimated hours left is really finicky because it uses such a narrow time range between its calculations. But I have confidence I could get 9 hours of pure 4chan browsing out of it.

It's hard to tell though, really depends what you're doing. Because if I'm outside in the sun, I'll have to up the brightness to 15, or if I don't need internet, I can turn the wireless off too. Or if the ultrabay HDD kicks on, that saps power too.
