i tried your method and compared it to mine and mine is better because it doesn't split 100% of 1 CPU, but it allows you to stress more cores (if you have them). so in my case, i can go all the way to full cpu stressing (800% - 8 virtual cores) using my method. if i use your method, i only get 100% total stressing, split over whatever number of threads of dd i launch... so i think you'll learn to appreciate my method if you have more than one logical CPU.

Thunderbolt has replaced PCI-E in apple's mind. And it's true, it is fast enough. As for being elegant, I am uncertain. Cable management will be like the 80s all over again. It's kind of a good step, in a way.

>> No.34492381

The new Mac Pro design is perfect for what Apple computers have become, attractive, disposable machines for those who want stability, easy setup, and minimal maintenance and are willing to pay a premium for it. It isn't necessarily a bad design. It just goes in a different direction that most on /g/ would have liked. Personally, I'll take the expandability and price/performance ratio of a homebuilt over this any day.

it's simplistic as fuck, incredibly designed, makes a fuck load of sense from a thermodynamics point of view, one big great fan is far superior to 6 small ones.
the only real drawback (and it's a fucking big one) is the whole mobo set up. the only other drawback from this design i can think of is that you can't take across your current components. but that's not really a drawback because all emerging tech has that problem.

you could have small versions with tri-mobo designs and then larger versions for quad-mobo set ups. also, water cooling this kind of set up would hugely reduce the size of the case
