I've been over at my fellow watchmaker's workshop. I bring the watches that need pressure testing over to him as he actually owns a dry tester (those are like $3000 used). I saw that he's working on an ex-fighter pilot's Hungarian People's Army-issue Heuer Montreal. These are seriously fucking cool, one from this batch of military-issued Montreals was the first V7750 and probably the first automatic Swiss chrono is space, flown with Bertalan Farkas in 1980.

>$400 USD to service a Valjoux 7750
Kek, you stupid asshole that's what you get for buying TAG.

If it were "just" an old Heuer Montreal and independent would service it for about half.

Are we having a non-pilot educate a pilot on how to fly a plane? I'd say just another day of autism on this website.

Also I don't think G-forces hurt mechanical accuracy or reliability that much. Just look at the original WWII Fliegers, the Poljot 3133's and Valjoux 7750's issued to fighter pilots. Pic related, the V7750 Montreal was standard issue for MiG-21 and MiG-23 pilots in the commie Hungarian Air Force.

Nice space watch collection, is it yours? Still needs a Sinn (D-1 and D-2 Shuttle missions), that polish LED watch (Interkosmos), and Bertalan Farkas' Heuer Montreal (Interkosmos, probably first V7750 in space).

What's the cheapest 7750 chrono you could find, new or vintage?

>I don't like how they put the TAG logo on the movement.
But at least it's not on the dial.
>$5,000
Fuck those greedy alpine-kikes, I bet the original V7750/L5100 Heuers weren't anywhere near $5000 (inflation-adjusted).

Wait a minute. WAIT A FUCKING MINUTE!!! Sinn used to claim that theirs was the first automatic chronograph in space, before the Pogue Seiko became known. But the German-American Spacelab D1 mission was in 1985, and Bertalan Farkas's spaceflight in 1980! And his watch wasn't a personal piece, it was his military issue pilot's chronograph. So even before 2007 Sinn was wrong, theirs isn't only not the first automatic chrono in space, but not even the first Lemania 5100!

Holy shit, mind blown, Sinn BTFO, Sinnfags on suicide watch etc.

Opinions on the Watch Repair Channel?

Guy seems like he knows what he's doing. Watch unrelated.

Steinhart pls. They had to waste the Valjoux 7750 to make an homage to a watch that doesn't have the right number of subdials.

They could have replicated a shitton of good vintage watches that originally had the 7750, hell they could have made some "good enough" homages of ones that were Lemania 5100 powered.

TL;DR: Steinhart really blew it with this abomination.
