Also, other watch repairers/makers of /wt/, how often do you guys do this?

I'd feel less like an idiot if I knew others did this now and then too.

>repaints your vintage citizen dial
>sloshes oil all over your movement
>mangles your case in a polishing wheel
>piles spices on your watch

why does ebay allow this

for 12 pounds you get what you paid for. believe me when i say most watchmakers are glorified battery changers.

>fair enough
>that minute hand is as long as it could be
>the dial was probably intended to have a border. dragging the rose engine cutter another millimeter isnt an attempt to save money, especially on a hand finished watch.

7/10 made me a llittle butthurt

How do you compete with Pajeets? Not to mention dealing with corporate culture. I'm comfy with watches, I tinker at my bench all day long, surf the net, I even come up here during work, nobody really bothers me, sometimes a retard comes up for a battery change or a springbar, I sort their chinkshit out in two minutes and then back to watches and Internet. Also no corporate bullshit, I see the boss maybe once a month and the hot bitches in the store sometimes tease me but generally give me no shit.

TL;DR: after years of NEET suffering I finally lucked out.

I'm getting my first pay tomorrow in my new job that is watch repair. I'll probably blow it on better tools, and some parts to rice my Vostok. I don't even know the exact amount I'm getting since I'm payed by performance.

Neat condition, though the movement is probably as dirty as an Indians ass-wiping hand since it was probably serviced by this guy.

Starting today I'm a certified watchmaker. What now? Is there any real profit in buying "for parts/repair" watches off Ebay and restoring them to a decent condition? Like old KS/GS Seikos, vintage Swiss, slavshit, even poo2loo?
